Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

Looking for good closed headphones for the office - want to listen comfortably at reasonably high volume - with nothing getting out.

Have narrowed it down to 2 (but also open to other recommendations):

The Sennheiser HD-280 Pro for €124 delivered

or the Sennheiser HD25-1-II for €178 delivered

Are the HD25's worth the extra €50???

Has anybody got both that can compare the 2??

    Thanks in advance!
    Keith.

Defiantly go with the HD25-1-II, certainly worth the extra 50. While I have no time with the HD280s I have had many hours with the HD25s and they are fantastic. That price is also quite a nice one.

I cannot recommend these highly enough:

Thanks for the replay Mark - How are the HD25's for noise isolation??
Very important factor as they will be used most in a very quiet office!

From my use I've noticed that they give off very little sound. I think them and the M50s are great like that.
You hear your music and not much else, and nobody else hears it ether, unless you have it at extreme volumes.

If you're using an iPod I'd suggest using a FiiO E6 as well to give it that little bit more life, at least that's what I thought it done when paired :)

The AKG k550 might just suit your environment a bit better than the HD-25's

Amazon germany have them for a decent price: http://www.amazon.de/AKG-AKGK550-K550-Premium-Kopfh%C3%B6rer/dp/B005CNR7B0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342178764&sr=8-1

Was looking into them myself and found very mixed reviews on Head-Fi. Have you had a chance to try them Mactard?

In Galway I don't get the opportunity to try out headphones unless I buy them :pac: All I know of them is what I've learnt from my own research while searching for some big comfy headphones

Ah I see, same situation for everyone in Ireland really :P

With your budget it'd be hard to go wrong, nice amp and cans. As they say, be graaaaaand.

Impossible to find brick & mortar to try out headphones. Popped down to local Harvey Norman (Limerick) - they did have listening points at least - but it was either low end Sennheisers or Dre Beats.

Anybody know if HMV let you sample headphones???

Last time I asked, I got laughed at and asked was I serious.. Don't know if you'll get the same reaction. They should have some on listening points, but nothing that is really too great.

If you're thinking lower end, try the JVC Carbon Black headphones. They're quite good and get good reviews :)

Ended up going for the Sennheiser HD 380 pro (upgraded version of the 280s)
Picked them up here for £80 with free delivery.

Seem to be an upgraded version of the 280s with better fit, sound and they fold into an included carry case. Reviews are excellent.

Have to mention a pair I tried in town - Superlux HD 661. Sound was very nice off them - seemed a bargain for €60. Was very tempted but ended up going for the Sennheisers

Future sound & vision in Limerick. Was really surprised at the quality of the sound for the price. Isolation seemed be very good also.
