Solicitor has doubled my legal fees

    Hey all.
Purchasing a property at the moment and agreed on a fee of €750 ex VAT plus outlays back in February with my solicitor.

Due to incredible ineptitude on my banks part and long delays with my life insurance, things I had no control over, the mortgage is only going through this week and the solicitor has increased this fee to €1200 ex VAT plus outlay. They mention that they have "billed in excess of €1500 on file" due to the "extremely protracted" amount of time, however are suggesting a reduced fee of €1200.

Is this normal practice? What further costs could they have incurred over this time?
    Thanks in advance. :)

think you may have summed up the work which might not have been anticipated in the original quote in your post.

    if you're not happy complain.

if you acknowledge that maybe due to incredible ineptitude etc on the part of others more time might have been spent than if the matter sailed through then maybe don't complain.
