I can't say that I've noticed a price-war taking place, being as everything seems to go up in price at the drop of a hat in all supermarkets. Perhaps they're implying that things would be going up an awful lot more, were they not all keeping tabs on the competition?

Supermarket price wars and the falling cost of fuel helped push the annual inflation rate down to 1.7 per cent, according to new figures published today by the Central Statistics Office.

For me, the supermarket giants are a cartel.

Walk along the aisles, and there will be posts up on shelves stating that this product is the same as in an opposition supermarket.

No interest in beating their price??
