Email very slow?

Hi Ive set up pop3 to run my blacknight webmail address in gmail and it is taking a good few minutes for emails to come through? It seems the problem is before the mail lands in the blacknight inbox? Is there anything that can be done to speed this up or any fault at present? Thanks
