Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Parade passes off without incident

It's good to see that both sides are starting to accept each other in recent years.
Although bigotry might always exist at least both ends seem to want to resolve by means of piece.

Well a few Police officers have been injured in the Ardoyne area. There was a Nationalist protest march because of the Orange march. And the Unionists had a counter protest march! Laughable!

Today in Belfast I seen a load of the dregs of society in a group just hanging about with Union Jacks, hats etc etc. I thought to myself, it's a class problem, these people don't have any. This was reafirmed this evening, I was watching Nationalists in the Ardoyne on BBC NI throw stones, bottles, etc at Police. They were also smashing a car which was in a Nationalist area I presume. Pure toe rags.

Look at the BBC NI webpage, there's five or six hooded lads throwing stuff at the Police with a crowd watching, it's surreal.

First they came for the socialists...

Yes without incident. I had to laugh at this on teletext earlier... parade passes off peacefully hurray...... last paragraph 'stone throwing youths clashed with police, a number of officers injured and cars set on fire'.:pac: I suppose it's an improvement.

It's recreational rioting. Even if there was no march these ones would still engage in this bollocks.

It's the highlight of the year for the sad b@stards. Until they get lifted, at which point it's time to start crying your eyes out and feign innocence and any notion that you are a "big man" goes out the window when mummy has to come and pick you up at the peeler barracks the next morning.

This is obviously intended to be derogatory. I don't mind slagging the Orange Order, but in the process don't pull down minorities by making them object of laughter. Being a member of the Orange Order is a choice, being gay isn't. I find it entirely bigoted how some people view being gay as something to be laughed at. As if calling someone "gay" is derogatory.

"Oh look, they're waving a rainbow flag and a pink Union Jack, ha ha, they must be gay. Ha ha! Let's all laugh at them because they look gay! Ha ha!"

    *Hilarity ensues*

You see there's bigotry here. It's childish and ignorant. Being gay shouldn't be an object of hilarity. Quite frankly, I find that wordpress article offensive.

I think you missed the point, no one is slagging being gay

You missed my point. If I photoshoped those photographs and made the Orange Order members look Chinese or African, trying to make the march look funny, then many people would rightly view that as offensive. But if I photoshoped the photos and made the Orange Order look gay, oh that's perfectly fine, let's laugh at them because they look gay. Slagging the Orange Order by making them look gay implies that being gay is something derogatory and something to be laughed at.

I think you're reading way too much into it and getting too defensive.

Why gay arguments have to start up in these types of threads is beyond me

Look if you're taking offence to this personally I apologise but I think the whole point of the article was to slag off the orange order.

Do you take offence to little britains "only gay in the village" sketches?
