    What are the qualifications to be a moderator ?
    Who monitors the moderator and are they also disciplined ?
    I think some are on a power trip.I had one who disguised himself to incite and then appeared as a moderator. I got a ban so I cannot prove this.
    There are other forums more tolerant .

    What other forums? Other internet forums? Didn't you say in one of your threads that you had been banned from other internet forums for what we (AH) actually allowed you to say?

    Moderators are monitored by their co-mods, category mods and admins. And also by the regular users that can complain if they feel they've been treated unfairly. So it's not like you can get away with anything just because you're a mod.

    Having been a moderator on a few other sites in my time I can honestly say: "Why would anyone want to do the job?"

    It is difficult, it is a thankless task and sometimes soul destroying. I applaud anyone who does the job, and I am thankful to those who do such a great job. But personally, I will probably never do it again.

    (And to all the mods who read this, thank you for your hard work)

    Ahh R it's not that hard. The odd moments if you're on your own and stuff is flying about or on really high traffic forums, but it's a team thing. That includes folks who report stuff to keep you up to speed. That helps more than anything. I can defo see how being a cmod dealing with an entire category's problems when they come up would be a right pain in the bum, ditto for the more hands on admins, but otherwise not so much. It's not thankless either. You do get thanked, if that's what helps, but more you're helping the community get on with things without spam/twats/trolls.

    There are no qualifications, it's not a job.

    People who show themselves to be level-headed, knowledgeable in their area and a good contributor tend to be asked to volunteer as a moderator. Don't ask us, we will ask you.

    Moderators are held to account by their fellow moderators, Category Moderators and Admins. Likewise, Admins and CMods are held to account by each other.

    If you have a problem with a moderator, we have a clearly defined process for resolving such matters. Simply saying a mod is on a power trip will get you nowhere.
