Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

a little off the great news of Ireland's first medal, a great show of respect by Kirani James after his 400m semi, asking to swap name stickers with amputee Oscar Pistorius.

How do the boxing medals work? He's guaranteed a bronze at least right now, but what fights does he have left to better that?

Silver and not a bad effort.

So glad John Joe won that match and the bronze medal he's done well.
I hope he wins the next match :).

  • Registered Users Posts: 777 ✭✭✭Pdoghue

Think about it... he has bronze, now he's into the semi-finals... worst he can be is a losing semi-finalist => bronze medal (there are 2 bronze medals awarded for both losing semi-finalists). If he wins the semi-final he is into the final => gold/silver contest

If he wins his next fight he's guaranteed silver and a place in the final for gold.

Oops, Pdoghue got there before me.

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

Hes in the semis now - loosers both get bronze as theres no 3rd place fight.. One more win and he's in the Olympic final

Ah didnt realise there were two bronze medals on offer, makes sense.

I think it's gas the difference between Irish commentators and GB ones:

We've guaranteed ourselves a bronze and we're thrilled no matter what, a GB girl won two bronze medals in the swimming and the commentators did nothing but give out!

I hope the GB fans are a bit more supportive of their silver and bronze medalists than the reporters.

Well done Christine in the 400, silver this time, to add to the gold from Beijing.

Bolt running in just 20 mins time . . .

    Bollt 1 Blake 2 Gatlin 3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

I love Justin Gatlin's running style, really looks like he is skipping over the track! However surely it's between the 2 big guns???

I put a tenner on Gatlin @ 18/1 for the sake of it. So bar a small miracle I'll be a tenner down by the end of the night

Really. Did she not get a lifetime ban from competing in Olympics for GB for doping offenses?

Wait, some lad got disqualified for staying up late but a murderer is allowed to compete?

The Olympics have some screwed up rules.
