Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You can have Jackson if you want him. I've already put my towel on Denice's sun-lounger (oo-err Missus!).

Yay the Irish, our fans are great in any sport. Us Irish love sport.

That's interesting. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to make it seem like a bad thing though.

More evidence that Ireland has some of the best traveling supporters in the world. Pity we don't have more cause for celebration, mind.

Just saw this on the RTE site,:D some achievement after the racket at the opening ceremony and the buzz when the uk won 3 golds on sat night.

The decibel level during Katie Taylor's fight with Natasha Jonas this afternoon hit 113.7 - the highest recorded at London 2012 so far.

Is Jonas out of medal contention in the boxing now?

Loling at the American pole vaulter and her coach screaming at each other

Lots of pole vaulters failing tonight. Loads of them barely even landing on the mat too for some odd reason.

There's definitely an element to that but at the same time I'm sure many of the people at the niche events like hockey are handball are true blue fans of that sport. Not tgat boxing is a niche sport but You know what i mean. But by having seen it live it might foster an interest that generates more attendance at there local ABC

Ya the Russian one nearly missed the mat earlier on and came close to landing on the part where they put the pole

I'm really starting to love John Inverdale on the BBC. After the 400metre's final he said that the final was just the West Indies taking on a family from Belgium :D

Take it you didn't see the ''off screen'' shots of him during the 100m final last night then? He was filmed up in the BBC ''pundit's area'' (for want of a better phrase!) during the race and he was like; ''Look at whatsisname!'', and ''Go on big man!''. Granted, he wasn't supposed to be onscreen at the time, and so it was an unscripted, off the cuff moment, but even so. Michael Johnson looked distinctly unimpressed! And Denise looked mighty fine as usual!

Denise was a munter back in the day talk about getting better with age!!!

Anyone listening to Guy Mowbray and the former England player Lucy Ward on commentary for USA-Canada? They seem to be having a personal ego battle, rather than capturing the drama of extra time in an Olympics semi-final. Really poor of both.

Scott for Canada back on the field after what looked like a nasty injury. These lassies are tougher than Premiership stars

Is the women's football under 23 or any of that craic? Sorry have zero clue about it.

Also is this a semi? Canada and USA in a football semi seems unusual to me but they could well be very good for all I know

If Katie Taylor is now guaranteed a bronze medal- how does that work if there are four fighters in the semis?

Both losing semi-finalists get bronze medals.

Ha didn't mean offence by it. Meant to say he's useless really, although he's better than what RTE can offer at the end of the day

There is no box off for bronze, so the two losing semi finalists get bronze.

It's because the IOC and organisers would only allow a certain amount of time to be allocated for the competition. Which is bad form imo

US win the football at the end of extra time. Canada deserved it more imo.

did anyone notice Katie Taylor's coach (not her father the other guy) giving Marty Morrissey a dirty look?...he was there chewing gum and giving him the evils for some reason

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Fitting that the hottest player on the pitch scored the winner. Alex Morgan is fine.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,656 ✭✭✭cgpg5

Is there a World Cup in women's soccer? Like an every 4 year job or something?

Should be age limited if so at olympics or not be there at all along with mens football
