Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not seeing a lot of British culture yet. They haven't yet represented fish 'n' chips, the X Factor or racist footballers.
    or chicken tikka masala

    Dizzee Rascal is just cringeworthy

I know they have a non-commentary option, but why do BBC even bother offering commentary in the first place, it's just annoying

None of my suggestions have come out so far. Still, I can confidentally predict they're gonna roll out a giant cup of tea and a couple of biscuits at some point.

Would China, Australia or the USA even get this? Like the Mr Bean and Corrie thing?

Doesn't matter a fcuk really. I didn't know the background to a lot of the Beijing ceromony but was still able to enjoy it.

    Why is that brilliant?

Because it shows that people haven't forgotten about Tony Blair and his war crimes in that country.

Apologies, I don't mean to suggest that this takes away from this event. It's brilliant so far and I for one am thoroughly enjoying it.

No Stone Roses either in their little music chronology.

Ah. The inventor of the internet. Couldn't they have had a bigger tribute ? Say 10,000 blokes spanking their monkeys in unison ?

Bit of a slap in the face to play Muse instead of them.

Those three parts so far were EPIC - the industrial revolution, kids & music. So well done.

I would like to note that I do not use the epic word often

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,012 ✭✭✭✭titan18

I dont think it's that great. Some of the music/film section was good, and the Industrial part was good, but the country part at the start and the NHS thing were awful imo

Yeah, was surprised by that too.
Was expecting to hear the strains of 'Don't look back in anger' or something ring out.
It's strange they weren't included given how incredibly huge they were in the 90's and how associated they are with that era.
Maybe the Gallaghers managed to piss-off Danny Boyle at some stage.

    Beckham for the next Bond!!!!:D

The bit with boy and the girl was extremely cringe worthy. Didn't enjoy the whole technology bit though I get it with the whole culmination in Tim-Berners Lee.

The house was cool, the firewords were definitely the highlight so far for me, the airborne picture of it was unreal.

    Is Beckham lighting the flame?
