Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't worry, I've an awful feeling that I'm going to finish up bottom. I've been getting steadily worse each day. :pac:

She jumped 1.80 and 1.85 but failed at 1.9. I think her SB is 1.91, but compared to the others it was always going to be an uphill task.

I was going by dopey Des on RTE radio!
Also worth noting that she's battling an injury, in the form of a trapped nerve in her back, as of very recently, and only arrived in the Olympic village the other day.

    which leads to
Sure she wouldnt have been brought to the Olympics if she wasnt.

I assuming that no other Irish athlete made the standard to qualify for the Olympics therefore she wouldn't have denied anyone a spot. Bit like the hoo-har with Triple Jumper Phillips Idowu in Team GB.

I guess Bolt will get Gold & Blake Silver, but does anyone else rate Lemaitre's chances for a Bronze tonight? as the token whits sprinter I would like to see him do something, although I thought he was below par in the heats!

    Bronze or bust for Lemaitre?

Mens 200 Metres Final 20:55 TONIGHT.

Below par? He ran 20.03 in the semis. He has a legitimate shot at the bronze, but lane 2 isn't good for him, as his bend isn't great due to his very long stride. But he's young and he'll fight all the way to the line. As for bronze or bust, no. He's only 22 and still improving.

She's our first female high jumper I believe. So definitely not denying anyone a place there. Simple fact is athletes have to compete and contend with injuries all the time.

Oh hard to call too. as both have Jamaica and Russia who will get medals. Diego has China but do they have any more events they could win?

I think there's a diving final happening today that a Chinese girl is tipped to win. After that I'm not really sure.

Yes, I'm the only person that's brought up the large amounts of sickness and injury that seems to have hit our athletes.....

Everything is not always rosey in the garden and not blindly falling in with the belief that everything is great is perfectly valid.

Other than that I see no issue with questioning someone who thinks god is helping them win. What happens if the girl Taylor is fighting is a better believer in god? Does she then think she can't win? The idea of god is that he loves everyone , no? So to think he is helping one against another is totally against the belief . Can't work both ways. It's the same for any athlete or anyone else that thinks god is helping them. Whether it's usain bolt or a rower that finishes 2 minutes behind everyone in a 3 minute race.

Apparently there was talk of Bolt running the final 400 if Jamaica had made the final. I'd love to see him over that distance.

BBCs Steve Cram noted that Oscar Pistorius was on the third leg.

South Africans and Kenyans fell. The Jamaican guy pulled up with what looked to be an injury.

Womens Beach Volleyball. (Highlights on RTÉ 2 now).

Apart from the fact that this is probably the earliest time in the day that RTÉ have ever shown bikini clad girls, I was also wondering - How can there be two teams from the USA in the final ?
