Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have to agree. I think she's deserving of her own thread here. She's made Olympic and Irish history.

Definetly, she deserves a thread. In all the white noise of the Olympics this is Irish sporting history and deserves its own platform!

Stingy feckers not allowing one dedicated thread tbh.

Superb moment for Irish sport, and the country as a whole. I've to be up for work in five hours but not budging til she has the medal and we hear the anthem.

I hope I'm not the only person in the country who shed a little tear of pride and joy after that. Well done Katie. Forever a national hero

"Complete and utter delirium at the ExCeL as Katie Taylor pulls the last two rounds out of the bag to win the lightweight crown. I've been to Rugby World Cup finals, I've been to Wimbledon finals, I've seen Great Britain win three gold medals in 45 minutes at the Olympic Stadium - but I have never heard a noise like that."

Wasn't she one of the main driving forces behind having the IOC include women's boxing in the Olympics in the first place? So, yeah.. she has certainly and deservedly earned a place in Olympic history.

I don't know. It's the same when I see people in a pub crying because Manchester United lost the Champions League. I love sports but it's never worth tears.

Fair play to her, it's great for her.

Huge sigh of relief! That was a very competitive division. Her three fights were not easy. I'm so glad she did it because every Irish person has been hanging that medal around her neck since it was announced that Women's Boxing was to be included.

Her medal is the same value as Usain Bolt's, but it probably means more to us as a nation than Bolt's does to Jamaica.

Very disrespectful of the Russian to stand with her arms folded during the anthem.
