Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Total rubbish opening ceremony, parts look so cheap and all the hype coming from the uk that it was gonna be better than Beijing ...... Don't think so .... Hopefully it'll get better

I really don't get that! Sounds like you're just looking for a moan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,089 ✭✭✭ascanbe

Is this a huge, and expensive homage to Danny Boyle's films?

    You've rumbled him.
And he even explicitly auditioned to be given the next Bond movie.

Ah come on, they were forever pointing out that it was going to be much smaller and cheaper than Beijing, and that it was basically impossible for them to do something on such a scale as the Chinese.

Now if Greece had seen the business opportunity in this when they started it back in 776BC (or whenever it was) they'd be richer than Bernie Ecclestone now rather than stoney broke.

Why the need for the bronze urn carrying-teenager with the team??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭Mountainlad

Ok that did not go well.

Here'sthe link for the list of the order of parading teams for those interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Summer_Olympics_Parade_of_Nations#Parade_order

Have they referenced The Smiths at all.
    Britishness personified.

Yeah, no The Smiths was shameful.
This snub will be just be further grist to Morrisey's mill, though.
The bitterness he'll feel will fuel him for at least the next decade.

No. They'd just sell the rights to host it every 4 years. It'd make them make billions.

Then there'd be all the spin off merchandising they could cash in on.

Somewhere between Indonesia and Japan, I think ...

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.
