Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    and Daley?
    LOL

The chinese were something like 1/4 favorites. They were only hoping for a bronze in that event

Come on Jo WIlly! here's your chance!

What a chance that groundstroke was!!!

    bronze is still a medal..

    LOL

What? They weren't expected to get gold. Bronze would have been fantastic in that event and only gold would have moved GB up the table anyway (GB are top of the teams with no gold as in the table 1 gold > infinite amounts of bronze and silver). So you'd have made the same silly comment even if they'd been a place higher and got bronze. LOL

i think the target of 90 medals is a bit silly tbh.

I kinda hope Raonic wins, Tsonga has had a better career so far.

    Who's targetting 90 medals, China ?

Those Chinese gymnasts are amazing but i have seen bigger kids coming out of creches. They are bred to be gymnasts and have their growth stunted so it's a bit cruel.

That happens with all nationalities to some extent. The Chinese are smaller to start with and work harder, but there's nothing natural about conditioning your body to be able to do that stuff.

Ah no. Tsonga is an absolute gent! Don't like Raonic at all but he's a good young player! Either way Novak should account for either in 1/4's!

Great Britain got just under 50 medals last time, and a realistic expectation is around the same this time. They've started similarly to how they started in Beijing, albeit without the gold medals.

Well I don't know much about Raonic tbh, I would expect Tsonga to win :)

i see they've had to swallow their words regarding the 16 year old Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen after their disgraceful comments following her obliteration of Hannah Miley.

Sour grapes are never easy to swallow.:D

I mean who are you saying criticised her, I've seen several people voice their suspicion, the most blatant one was the US official.

Also, did she pass a drugs test?

US leading NKoreans 1-0 in the football with 10 minutes left.
Will the team be 're-educated' when they return home if they don't win?

looks like the Chinese will build on Beijing to remain the dominant force in Olympic games.
    more disappointment from team GB.
desperately trying to paper over it by lauding they unexpected Bronze they got in men's gymnastics.
target of 48 looks like it wont be met.;)

how are they allowed go in the first place? Do they lock them in a hotel room when they aren't performing or something?

Wouldn't we do the same if we were in that situation? Fair play to Britain for staying positive after a few disappointments.

They'd have government minders with them at all times. I remember their footballers in the 2010 world cup were kept on a very short lease.

Yeah I hope she can hold her nerve. Apparently there's four races plus the 'medal' race to go.

So, they won't discover the joys of women and booze, then? Shame
