Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There seems to be a lot of world records falling at these Olympics and going by the women's sprint heats I think we are going to see another fall.

Assuming because of the advanced drug testing techniques and procedures I think the athletes are clean, so what has changed, is the new computer aided training techniques or are athletes just getting better. I find it puzzling.

I think evolution is the word you are looking for, as a species we are getting faster, taller and stronger -obviously not including myself in this category :D

There's zero chance of the 100m record falling. It's 10.49.

Yeah, two factors make that rather unlikely

    1) Flo-Jo's time was heavily suspected to be wind assisted, something in the region of a 6 or 7 tailwind was recorded during the meet. It was just inside legal limits for the race itself.

    2) Drugs, she died early, quit at her peak - just as proper out of competition testing was introduced, etc

I think it will, watch this space.

If I am wrong I am wrong.

Don't get me wrong I like everyone else likes to see records fall but it should be a rare event.

The cycling equipment has got better and always will, so that could explain the records falling in the velodrome but a lot of records went in the pool and lets see how the track and field fairs.

The track at the stadium was also built especially for the Olympics. I imagine they would have made it as fast as possible whilst operating within the Olympic track standards. Evolution is a wonderful thing. Thats how world records are broken year after year. Athletes are getting better but so is the equipment they use.

We should quit athletics and swimming at this level. Let's face it, we're just not cut out for it.

    I blame the potatoes.

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

Even though it was, you mean?

I don't think Nolan will win tonight. He didn't look great in his last bout and might've lost it if there was another round.

Is it not on TV anywhere?

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

It seems BBC HD and BBC 3 are the same for the Olympics, HD/SD is the only difference... I think anyways.
