Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Everything looks like it was done on the cheap so far. Including the stadium. Nothing compared to Beijing really.

Its deliberately been designed as the antidote to authoritarian Beijing.

Nice to get Pink Floyds pig into the intro film (and a nod to Eastenders)

Don't think I'll last through this for much longer. Awful self indulgent tosh, and the inane BBC commentary is not helping. Pity.

Just heard the suffragette movement will be reflected in the opening ceremony so perhaps it will be a woman athlete, I don't think a woman athlete has ever lit the torch before, so Kelly Holmes, that was a great Olympic moment and we are not seeing much of her, so maybe.

    Good suggestion!

This is really awful, cheap and tacky to the extreme. Compared to Beijing it makes London look pathetic.
If they could pay pennies a day to workers I'm sure they might manage something more extravagant.

Alas, the last time that was possible would have been the industrial revolution - which they're trying to recreate now.

They could have spent millions on lasers and fireworks and synchronised drummers, but this is interesting in a different way imo
