Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Down 2 lbs today!!:D Ate like a horse and practically no exercise!! Go figure!! Went for a lovely long walk after cos I felt so good bout that. Have lost 18lbs since January, down now to 11st 10lbs, would ideally love to get to 10st 7lbs. think that might be my definite goal now. It's slow going but I know that's the way to do it so that it will stay off. Doesn't seem to be the impossible task that I once thought it was. Great to hear everyone's success stories and to be honest it also helps to hear the about the weeks that people aren't doing so well because that's when people have great tips and words of encouragement to give. It makes it feel like you're not alone and that we're all on the journey together. Good luck everyone for the coming week.:D

Hope you dont mind me asking but i have lost 3.5 stone just 2lbs to get to goal but i am terrified of maintainence and i was just wondering what you think your reasons for putting back on the weight and what you think you should have done different to maintain it, Thanks

I was doing great, I had maintained that for about a year but illness scuppered me. And then I just got into a rut.

I'd also just quit smoking and compensated with food. It doesn't help that I live with a complete sugar addict either and the house is full of treats :D

But for the year I was maintaining it was easy enough, I didn't find it difficult, I always allowed myself one treat day during the week where I could have my drinks and chocolate and if I went overboard I exercised more to compensate.

I always planned things so I would never have two bad weeks in a row so if I was going out to a party this week I would make sure next week was free of any major socialising.

And I went to meetings, very important to keep that up, my leader said as long as I went to one at least once a month I was fine but I still went every week.

Well done on getting to goal !

Had my first gain last week (1lb) which I totally wasn't expecting but instead of just motivating me I pigged out all weekend!! Raging with myself.. Got back into it yesterday so hoping for a STS at my WI, which is on Saturdays, I love them being on a Saturday because it motivates me to be good all week :).

So anyway il let you know, good luck to everyone at their own weigh ins!

Welcome to all the new people :)

We were brought out to lunch today and I had chicken curry, rice and a handful of chips. Told my mam not to keep dinner so I'm going to have a salad when I get home. Had my usual breakfast which is 5PP. I'll have to allow at least 10-12PP for the curry. Good thing I have Zumba tonight. :o

Hi all. Hope all is well. Haven't been on in a while. I've been good. In total 18 lbs down. Only one week sts and every other week a loss. Not a huge loss sometimes just one lb but I'll settle for that. Quick question... Mighty Munch 26g. NV per bag. Carb 15g. Protein 1.7g. Fat 7.1g. Fibre 1g. Could anyone work out the propoints please? Thanks.

Theres a WW calculator on the homepage. So you can point everything from there. Makes it really easy to point things.

Hi everyone - my 1st post here! I've been doing WW since the end of February & got my 3rd silver 7 on my weigh in tonight! I nearly cried in the car afterwards I was so delighted! So I'm now 11st 1lb & ideally would like to shift another stone but I think my goal weight is another 7lbs or so so I will be really happy with that! I'm finding the diet really suits me as I was eating massive dinners & late at night so I knew I had to make serious changes in my diet. I think staying for the meetings are necessary though & I love hearing all the success stories!

Hey guys, seen you were talking about actifrys on here, would you recommend them? I really really want one but I don't want to waste my money if its not worth it!?

They're 4 if you haven't figured it out yet. I love them and sometimes treat myself to them at the weekend. Which they were even 1 point lower so I could have them as a daily treat :D

Welcome to all the newbies, there seems to have been a few here today. You all have some great losses so far so looking forward to following you on your journey.

I had a really good non-scale moment today. I met my friend who has been away for the last 2 weeks today for lunch and the first thing she asked me was how my WI went last night because she said I looked like I had lost a good bit. When I told her I had gained she was shocked. I'm really happy as it shows the exercise must be working even if its not showing up on the scales. Just goes to show that the scales are not the be all and end all of weight loss.

So far its been a great week. I usually find it really hard to stay on track when I miss a WI but I am 100% committed and have my tracking to a tee. Helps that for the week I am posting daily food diary's on my blog - but still feeling really good this week.

I love when its this busy in here, great for the motivation. Welcome to all the newbies, hope you find this as useful as I did on my journey. Everyone is a great support and full of helpful information!!

Hey Glitter, we have an actifry here at home, I love it. It is very expensive but it's a great way to make tasty clean homemade chips! I use it alot for homemade chips and only use a little spray oil with it and the chips turn out great!

Well done on all the losses this week everyone! :)

I really depends on what you want it for tbh.
I you fancy chips, I would say dont bother as the chips come out of it tasting like dry roast potatoes(weird).

    Tastes nothing like a chip.
If you want it for chips, imo I would say save your money and have oven chips instead:)

I got one for xmas from my parents. before i got it i had said that while it looked great it wouldnt be worth the money just for chips and I was a little disappointed when i got to xmas day (had suspected she had bought it i advance so was a little prepared). However both myself and my boyfriend are actually delighted with it and we use it all the time. Not just for chips but chicken cooks really well in it too. A favourite of mine are marinated chicken thighs - they come out really juicy and take less time than oven cooking.

We do use it mostly for chips though - have them at least once a week and either use a tiny bit of oil or spray oil if im low on propoints. They work both ways but they do taste nicer when you use real oil. But I do find its less time consuming than making low fat oven chips which i would have always par boiled before - with the actifry it works better if you don't.

Its a lot of money so you should think about whether you would get the use out of it, but I do love mine!

Welcome to all the new posters :) amazing losses so far keep up the good work! good to see people who have achieved before with the program and lapsed.. as i am the same and its comforting to know there are other people fighting hard to get back to where they were!

Someone asked earlier how you manage to but the weight back on.. basically my relationship broke up and i moved to London with college friends and partied.. Also i didn't have the right mind set i thought ooh im so slim i can eat anything now! Believe me i don't have that mind set anymore!

Hard work and tough love.. that works!

Just out of Kettlebells second gym session since i left work yesterday feeling very good this morning.. and its almost the weekend yay :)

    Morning all,

Great to see the increase in activity on here, well done on all the losses this week...The good weather always brings more people to WW!

To the chip people Marks & Spencers fresh chips (i.e. from the fridges not freezer) cook in the oven and are delicious. Thin & crispy, McDonald's like.

I'm so desperate to get back in the game.... I lost 1 & 1/2 pounds last week and just want to get out of this darn rut.
I refuse to turn 25 and be over 11 stone. Goal would be a miracle, but I need to be under 11 stone at the very least.

I'm going to WI tonight but if don't get a loss, I'm not going to WI for a few weeks but will still attend meetings.
I've started to feel like Im getting weighed just for the sake of it...anyone else ever feel like this?

Since reading about how fizzy drinks cause diabetes, I've really tried to cut them out. I'm a big fan of sugar free squash, defo help give the sugar hit!

    Good luck all :)

I think everyone feels like that from time to time, IMO I think it's important to get WI once a week, it's a good indication that what you're doing is working or if you need to tweek your weekly routine.

Keep going you're doing great! With only 11lbs to go you are flying it! Well done! :)

Thanks so much Loughc, I really appreciate your encouragement!! Like so many others, I've been on this road for a long long time and just can't seem to get to the end. Although, If I'm being truly honest, I don't follow the plan 100%. I need to face up to that and WI once a week is the reality.

Thanks again, it really means alot. Cheers

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in this forum in a very long time but re-joined WW last night for maybe the 5th time :o It's been about two years since I tried it last...I really hope it works this time. I don't know how to describe my relationship with food. I guess I'm a very stereotypical food obsessive. I know the ins and outs of healthy eating and nutrition. I know what calories are in everything, what I should and shouldn't be eating. However my problem is that I know all this and struggle to do anything about it. Motivation is a huge issue for me and I've been diagnosed with depression in the last year which is definitely due to my weight. It's a vicious circle really!

So I stepped on the scales last night and I was completely shocked. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I knew my weight had been creeping up over the past couple of years but I didn't realise how much.

I do have some criticisms about the WW plan, but it's the only thing that's properly worked for me in the past, so I'm going to try and have as open a mind as possible and fingers crossed it will pay off :)

My first challenge is my points allowance per day - a whopping 38 pts. I eat very healthily during the day, my problem is I go home and cook large portions and then snack on junk. However I made out my plan today and even with giving myself a hefty portion of rice for dinner, I'm still left with a deficit of 12 points! So that's something I'm going to struggle with. I only eat a yoghurt and a piece of fruit for breakfast so I'm thinking I'm better off having some wholegrain toast on top of that, so at least I'm spreading my points more evenly throughout the day then and I won't be tempted to buy some chocolate on the way home just so I can hit my allowance!

Anyway sorry for all the rambling :o I found this thread invaluable before so I know it will be the same this time :) Onwards and downwards!

    I could have written this.

I'm the go to person in my house for food, I know the value of everything, I have a lot of low fat versions of tradionally bad foods but even with that I couldn't stop myself gaining back 3 stone. I too have depression which coupled with the fact I have always been an emotional eater is a disaster. For me its going to be a struggle just to keep my mood in the right place so I can focus on being healthy, its a battle but I am hoping this time I can finally conquer it.

First off welcome back! You did the hardest thing of re-joining, it can only get better from here! :)

I officially joined WW over 4 weeks ago and my starting pp was a whopping 45pps so I went through exactly how you did. Small things like Orange and Apple juice is a good way to get supplementary points into your day. Extra points here and there aren't long about adding up! :)

Have a cup of tea with milk, I have cereal, milk and yogurt for breakfast now. Add cheese to your meals, cheese is high on points and when your daily allowance drops you can remove the cheese to save on the pps :)

    Best of luck :)

So I went out last sunday night and my way in was Tuesday morning I STS but I was happy enough with that because I had a few Sambo's and a couple of ciders (well maybe Several ciders ha ) but I got back on the wagon just as quick...I was reading an article recently and it says give yourself 12 weeks...4 for getting used to it..4 for your friends and family to notice and 4 for you to notice yourself so I thought that was great advice considering I am a ''wants results yesterday'' kinda gal..So Im keeping strong On my forthe week hoping to lose at least 1lb next weigh in..best of luck to everyone else you are all doing so well...Need to kick up my excercise a gear though :/ G x

flowerpower I was in a similar position to you 2.5 years ago. I can't believe it was that long ago but it was. My biggest mistake/regret was when I stopped going to meetings. I couldn't get past a certain point and I felt it was a waste of money to keep going. You know where I am at now so I would definitely recommend going to your meeting and not weighing in. If I knew of that back then, then I might not be in the position I am. I would say maybe weigh-in every 2/3 weeks as you don't want to leave it too long as you may start to become complacent.
I also am trying to give up fizzy drinks. Its harder than I thought. I took your advice a few weeks ago to try sugar free squash and it definitely has helped.

ibarelycare welcome back. I remember you from before. There are a few of us here who are starting over for the umpteenth time. Take it a day at a time. I think if you take it slowly and are realistic with your weekly achievements then it is much easier to stay on track. Regarding your points, I would recommend using full fat products instead of low fat alternatives, use olive oil in your cooking, increase the amount of lean protein you are eating. I would definitely increase your breakfast. You can try some eggs or porridge. If you eat eggs, don't use egg whites, use the full eggs. It will also help you use up your allowance. You should also make sure you're getting enough calcium, so have a big glass of milk.

I have not been diagnosed with depression but I defintely have been down about my weight in recent months. I used to not go out with friends because I had no clothes to wear or I was ashamed of regaining the weight. Funny thing was, I was staying at home and pigging out! I saw this on twitter today; no point looking in the past, concentrate on today. What do you want to have achieved by the end of the day? I could not have read this at a better time as I realised that I have been so focused on the fact that I have regained weight. I need to forget about what I was before and focus on what I am now. Treat it as if you are starting for the very first time :)

ibarelycare - Welcome back. I know heading back to WW is a bit daunting. I rejoined back in January for the third time (I think) and like you it had been at least 2 years since I had been to a meeting, it was before ProPoints came in. I'm the same as you, I knew exactly what I should have been eating but I just didn't and getting heavier had caused me to feel down and then I was comfort eating and having takeaways a LOT. My points allowance was only 27 when I started but I was at my heaviest as well. I was 13st and I'm just under 5ft so I couldn't carry it.

A couple of days ago I said I was actually having a tough time with eating my 26 points and I got great tips here - having cheese with meals, eating my hard boiled egg in my salad with the yoke instead of without. If you're using skimmed milk maybe you could switch to full fat for a while until your daily allowance is reduced?

This thread is great and a few of us have blogs as well, I find them great for inspiration. I find my own great for tracking how I feel and stuff like that so maybe you could start your own?

    Best of luck! :)

Thanks for your replies about the actifrys! Iv decided to order one, should be here Monday, yay :D

I don't want it just for chips but that would prob be the main thing I would use it for! My auntie says spaghetti Bolognese is nice in it?! I dunno! Anyway my fiancée pretty much cooks ALL his food in either a deep fat fryer or a frying pan (we have massive arguments over it since I started WW :P) so I know he would get great use out of it. It's really annoying watching him throw his health away like that especially when I'm trying to be good but I can't really do anything about it, it's his life at the end of the day! Also his parent (whose house I stay in regularly) are the same as him so it's so hard to eat up there will all their high PP foods >:(. Once you've been in WW it's so clear to see that healthy food isn't 'rabbit food' but they won't listen to me!!

Sorry, rant over! So I was thinking of putting it in their house so they can use it aswell, maybe itl be the start of their new healthy eating!? Here's hoping!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

Thanks for all the encouragement and tips guys :) Using olive oil instead of low-cal spray is a great idea to bulk up my PP, as well as adding cheese to my cooking. I don't drink milk at all, or hot drinks for that matter. I don't have time to make eggs for breakfast during the week, but I always have them at weekends. Before when I was doing WW, I'd have scrambled eggs using two egg whites and just one yolk, but I'll be using two full eggs this time, at least until my PP allowance drops.

My main thing is that I don't want to be bulking up my points with too many starchy foods like rice, pasta, bread...all that stuff is my downfall! So I'm happy to hear tips that will help me use my PP but keep my portions under control :)

I've heard that you can buy egg whites in a carton, like milk. Has anyone ever bought it or know where you can buy it?

    Thanks :D
