Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

High temp gloss engine paint

So project VT500 is under way and meself and me mate have the engine up on the bench awaiting a freshen up.

Typically, all the paint and DIY shops I've been to locally have the same two matt black high temperature paints. I got great results from a VHT gloss back in NZ on my XJR and was hoping to do the same again on the VT.

I think if I make a trip to the Halfords in Cork they might have a pot of VHT gloss for use with a paint gun but I'm not sure if I can get access to a compressor etc yet. I'm also concerned about not using VHT primer. I know that some VHT paints are not intended for use with primer but can it hurt, I wonder?

Just wondering if anyone out there has any experiences of painting their engine that they might share. What about high temp lacquer for covering polished rocker covers and casings etc?

Used a vht spray on a RD 350 engine a few years back....it gave a really nice satin finish and it looked black, not grey/black....looked factory...I think Simoniz took over the company and sell it themselves now....I dont like the gloss or matt finish so this was perfect....

halfords do their own range of high temperature spray paints (and enamels), that get pretty good reviews

websites not too bad for searching (just try 'temperature' in the search box on halfords.ie)
