FAS Jobs Bank encountered an unexpected problem

Considering I'm waiting 7 months for a simple RF interference test taking maybe 15 minutes, they must be short of something. I'm betting they are not short of paper pushing desk staff that collect Licence Fees.

Stupid Fas can't write a decent website...go to http://intern.jobbridge.ie/ and in the search box put in Radio Spectrum Engineer and you'll see comreg attempting to take on two fully qualified engineers for next to nothing e.g. E50 per week and the government pays the rest. Is E50 the worth of an engineer now?

This is the kind of abuse of the jobbridge scheme that wasn't supposed to happen but now even state agencies are using it for slave labour now.

Maybe €1000 a week for own staff, or if via an Consultancy company about €3000+ per week.

Maybe they can't find anyone. Or can't find anyone that wants to work for Comreg.

The carpets would cost more than that to clean. Or maybe they get mowed. Deep enough at reception. They make plenty of money, though that is not supposed to be the purpose of a Regulator.

    They claim it's "intern training"
The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following - use of spectrum monitoring equipment and general office skills. On completion the intern will have attained skills in spectrum compliance, communication skills and general office skills

But someone without a 3rd level qualification in Electronics & RF would be useless
. Someone that has can figure out the test gear in one day and Comreg procedures & rules in a couple of days
    Skills Requirements

To deal with the technical aspects and queries relating to the radio spectrum with primary role as the investigation of interference to spectrum users. Areas that will be covered include: Microwave Point-to-Point Links, Private Mobile Radio Systems (e.g. radio systems used by security firms etc.) GSM and 3G. Satellites etc

    Experience Required:
    No Experience Required

    Education Requirements:
Third Level - Engineering graduate required
    (Any old Engineering is useless)

Frankly someone without the academic background and some practical experience of RF, Interference and Radio technology from 15KHz to 20GHz would be a disaster waiting to happen. I know because I've had so called "Interns" working for me and spent years doing this sort of work.

The advert doesn't mention that to be ANY use you have to spend almost every day on the road travelling to every point of Ireland. Though maybe the problems in Inference, lack of meeting Licence obligations etc are due to the fact there are too many people at desks and not enough Engineers on the road.

    Am I eligible?
    (For Job bridge Internship)
Note: This is ONLY a guide. You must visit your local social welfare office or in the case of those in receipt of Disability Allowance post the relevant forms to social welfare services to confirm your eligibility if you are selected by a host organisation as a potential intern.

    Q. Are you unemployed and actively seeking work?

    If YES

    Q. Have you been in receipt of any of the following for a minimum of three months?

    Jobseekers Allowance
    Jobseekers Benefit
    One Parent Family Payment
    Disability Allowance
Signing for social insurance contribution credits

If you have answered YES to any of the above and you are actively seeking employment - then this scheme may be for you!

To be eligible for a place as an intern you must have a live claim and be currently in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance/ Jobseekers Benefit/ One Parent Family Payment/ Disability Allowance or signing for Social Insurance Contribution Credits for 3 months (78 days) or more in the last 6 months.

Periods spent on Back to Education Allowance, VTOS, FÁS/Fáilte Ireland Training course, Youthreach, FIT, Community Employment Schemes, TUS, the Rural Social Scheme, Back to Work Scheme, Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, FÁS Job Initiative or Job Assist will count towards meeting the eligibility of JobBridge provided:

The individual has completed these programmes
    Has a live claim
Is in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance/ Jobseekers Benefit/ One Parent Family Payment/ Disability Allowance or signing for Social Insurance Contribution Credits immediately before commencing on JobBridge.

If you are not on the above payments or are in receipt of Blind Pension or Widows Pension you are ineligible to participate in JobBridge even if you are also receiving half rate Jobseekers Benefit. Remember You do not need to confirm your eligibility until you have been selected by a host organisation

If you are selected, the host organisation will provide you with an eligibility (UP51C) form

Your local Social Welfare office will complete the form to confirm your eligibility.

If eligibility is confirmed, the Social Welfare office returns (for eligible clients only) the form to JobBridge for processing.

Individuals who are ineligible will have the form(s) returned to them by the Social Welfare office/Social Welfare Services and you must notify the Host Organisation that you are ineligible to participate on JobBridge.

This just shows the competencies that comreg prefers, engineers those that know things about how RF works and mobile systems, are in the eyes of comreg almost worthless. Is it any wonder they always make the wrong decisions?

When they actually make one, or don't spend years pondering it.

Dispense with the services of one of these two, http://www.comreg.ie/about_us/organisation_who_we_are.472.html
on approx €170k p.a. each, and Comreg could afford to pay proper salaries for these positions.
Notice the third Commissioner Mr. Doherty is still off on his cycling holiday or whatever in Europe, have to wonder how the place functions without him.
