Dodgy ZyXel router

So after the eircom technician coming out, he found that it was indeed the router that was broken. But not being 'in contract' for the old netopia one I couldn't get a new one for ages. Decided to take bull by the horns and went on to adverts.ie and bought a zyxel router for €15.. Have the feeling I've wasted my money. :(…

I've a feeling it's been one of those questions that has been asked a dozen times but how do I get my internet to speed up again?

The router page is reporting a speed of 160kbps.. when we have 8mb NGB. Any suggestions?
