Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would you do something good if you could never get credit for it?

sure, I never wanted people pointing at me anyway. Just sit back afterwards and smile to yourself

if you think about it out of that specific context, course you would.

must have.. been beneficial to yoreself albeit in some abstract manner to have even got involved in the first place?

Say you could do something that would take a good bit of effort and time out of your life, that would aid some people that you had never met a great deal... but you could never take credit for it and the credit would go to someone else who had nothing to do with it. That person would take then credit out of selfish reasons.

Would you go ahead with it? genuinely.

i didn't consider where the credit goes. but there must have, been some other form of credit... or merely job satisfaction.

Yeah probably. It depends on the situation though.

For example, I'd like to get into game development and while I'd like so be independent, I'll probably end up working for a large company. In that situation I'd contribute to a project which would hopefully make someone happy but I wouldn't get any recognition for it. Sure, I'd get a mention in the credits, but they're second only to end-user licence agreements in terms of being ignored.

That probably gets outside of what you're asking though considering I'd be paid. I'd probably still do something decent if only to feel smug about it. If the good I'd create outweighs the bad I'd feel, I know I've made a contribution.

    Hmmm depends.

I was gonna say yes until you mentioned some selfish person taking the credit for it instead.

If I had the cure for cancer or something I wouldn't just hide and be like 'No **** that im not telling you unless i get credit for it'
