Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Catholicism - We are all cannibals

I was at evening mass last night. It came to the communion and the priest held up the bread and win and uttered "the body of Christ" and"the blood of Christ".

As a Catholic I'm suppose to believe that this literally becomes the body and blood of Christ but doesn't this make me a cannibal?

As a Catholic, you can be an actual cannibal if you want and as long as you ask for God's forgiveness, then it's OK.

It would only make you a cannibal if you are a zombie because Jesus was a zombie. If are just a mere mortal then communion makes you a zombie eater.

I once asked the priest did he have any cheese curry chips when he offered me the communion.

How was I supposed to know that's all they serve in there?

The ritual is kind of like something you would relate to the Ocult.

    Very strange indeed.

    No. That Protestantism...
If you are a catholic then you must accept that you are consuming the transubstantiated body of Christ. If you dont you are not catholic.

You have knowledge of fruit. But the wisdom comes from knowing not to put it into a fruit salad

Catholics believe it literally is Jesus' blood and body, Anglicans believe its both that and just bread at the same time, Presbyterians believe its just symbolic.

The Anglican belief is the nuttier one.

Catholicism doesn't believe that the bread literally changes but that the substance - which is immaterial - changes. this comes from greek philosophy and belief in non-materialism is not limited to the Catholics, it's still believed in some modern philosophy.
