Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok, my phone was stolen yesterday and a friend has lent me her old phone until I can sort something else out.

So just got a replacement sim card and he told me to reboot the phone in a couple of hours and it should work but power button is broken so I can't do this.

So I have two questions is a reboot the same as a letting your phone die and just plugging it back in?

just knock airplane mode on/off should be enough.
If its jailbroken download sbsettings from cydia and you should be able to reboot from the sbsettings menu/notification centre

Most of the time, the people in those shops are complete tools. A girl in my local vodafone shop tried to convince my mom that the background applications running were causing her phone to drop wifi and bluetooth connectivity. They chance their arms when it comes to iPhone issues. "Let's try hard reset it", "let's stop the background apps". That's all they try. :D

Airplane mode thing won't work so I guess I have to wait for it to die. As far as I know it's not jail broken.

are they just porting your number to a new sim?
if so removing the sim and reinserting/airplane mode should be all you have to do, is the iphone you have a lend of carrier unlocked?

If you need to power it off best open youtube and start streaming a really long high quality video with the volume up full :D

He probably only slightly better at iphones than you, and you didn't know at all ;)

This is how you turn it off proper, bit a long way but it beats paying for a repair.
Tap Settings, General, Accessibility, AssistiveTouch (near the bottom) and tap AssistiveTouch to ON. You will now notice a small dark square with a circle in the middle. Tap the dark circult to open the assistiveTouch menu, then tap Device and tap and HOLD the Lock Screen icon. This will bring up the iPhone's Power-Off slider.

For jailbroken phones you can install apps to turn it off for you.

I had to network reset it in the end but it worked so that's all that matters.
