    Hello

I am a recent graduate with an BCL. I am currently in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance. I recently seen a course advertised in relation to translation of state and legal documentation into Irish. Its being paid for by the Dept. of Arts, Tourism and the Gaeltacht.

It is a full time 2 month course. Considering that it is effectively a course to upskill myself Would I have to come off Job Seekers Allowance in order to take this course? Would it affect my claim for social welfare?

    Thanking You For Any Responses

You will have to ask at the SW office but check out this link which seems to strongly suggest that if you meet the eligibility options you may well be able to do this course and retain your payment.

    Approved Courses
Courses which are not recognised for BTEA Second and Third Level Options, and which are being pursued at an institution which is funded wholly or partly by state agencies may be approved if they lead to improved employment prospects on completion.
