Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Goal.com says we've had a 13.5mil bid accepted for Allen (pillar of salt not included)

It does probably mean that we'd need yet another midfielder.

We'll have Gerrard, Lucas, Allen, Spearing, Adam and Henderson, in a 3 man midfield.

We'd probably have the numbers but Gerrard is probably going to miss half the season and in terms of filling his role as the more advanced of the 3, only adam really fits the bill. Henderson will probably be rotated in for Lucas and Allen and Spearing should be kept in reserve if we're really stuck.

If nobody gets injured at all then grand. But they will and then our midfield wont be up to much.

Last season, we had Gerrard, Shelvey (who spent some time on loan), Henderson, Adam, Spearing, Lucas and we were short in that position. And we only played two in centre midfield.

Reserves currently playing Chester. Currently 2-2 at half time. Ngoo with both Liverpool goals.

Team - belford; baio sokolik jones maguire; coady roddan pelosi; ngoo bijev peterson

    Teixeira is on the bench.

Is it possible for Gerrard to be used as one of the front three instead of the midfield three?

Here's an idea. Newcastle buy him from Swansea for £4million, flip him on to us the following day for £15million and in return they get Carroll from us for £12million. Wonder would Newcastle go for that or would they try and bargain us down in the media instead.

so effectively we would be paying £15 million for allen as well as offering newcastle an 8 million discount on our valuation of carroll on top of them making an immediate £11 million profit on allen (so they'd basically be getting carroll for 1 million while we paid 23 million for allen)

    Damien, is that you?

Good point. Borini appears to be his only one so far and we got a fair price for him imo

Reserves won 3-2 with Nacho bagging the third goal. Teixeira came on early in the second half and suppose to have looked very good.

He Gets confused, Suppose to start low and meet in the middle
He starts in the middle, Which seller thinks is the low, So seller creates the middle :P ,Which ends up the original asking price
    Its the lil things,

Honestly it's getting embarrassing now . Another cock-up in our transfer dealings.

How is it another cock-up? Swansea want £15M and we offered £12M. We broke the agreement. So what? They are just using it to get an inflated price for Allen anyway.

That's bit over the limit methinks. Why can't we just step up the efforts to keep Bellamy instead? :(

In fairness, Bellamy was one of our better players last season. I'd love to keep him for one more year as an impact player. Especially as we've already lost Maxi and Kuyt.

Though stepping up efforts to keep Bellamy should have nothing to do with efforts to sign Joe Allen, they're completely different players in different positions with essentially nothing in common (aside from being Welsh). No reason not to try to have both.

I find it amazing how people get criticised here through misinformation.

I don't understand the dislike for Ayre as the club has made improvements in all areas except the pitch during his tenure.

He has all qualities, a striker needs, imo. He is always a threat, is determined, fights from start to the end. How can he bet 'not very good'?

Ive no dislike for Ayre, I answered a question based on my opinion of why Ayre is disliked - hence the "probably" in my quote

Just because he was one of our better players does not mean he was good. He was average.

He doesn't have all the qualities of a striker because he isn't one. If he had all the qualities of a striker you'd think teams would actually play him there and he'd score at a decent rate.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Same squad as the last day + Agger it seems. I was hoping a few of the recent join ups would get a few mins at least although I knew they weren't slated to. Hopefully a few will get a run out on Saturday.

He might not be a nominated striker, but I would play him upfront. What else can go wrong? ;)
