    My team so far is:

    Green
    Skrtel, Ferdinand(rio) Gorkss
    Kagawa, Sig, NZogbia Guthrie
    Torres, Rooney, Aguero

    Subs: McCartney, Allen, Clyne, Cerny
    Wondering midfield too week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

    Too much on defence?

    2jg5tzm.jpg

I took out Nolan and Hart as they are doubtful to play the first match. Keeping an eye on McCartney who's also not 100%. My main error at the start of every season is having players in the team that are injured/don't play.

My gamble at the moment is Kacaniklic, he started in Fulham's match against Charlton and set up Duff for the goal. he was also central to a few other moves and almost scored himself, just unsure whether he'll start. He didn't get much gametime at all last season.

In saying that, Tevez and Kagawa aren't guaranteed starters either, but I'm pretty set on my GK and FW's. Have £2m in the bank for Rooney also.

    Really hate week 1.

What about Scholes guys? €5.5m. I wonder will he get enough game time? Took in a fair few points last season when u look at how late in the season he was introduced.

With Richards out, most people feel Zab is a fairly safe bet. I have him myself at the moment.

done changes to my team last night and got Zaba for Lescott.

Very solid XI, but very weak bench. Jenkinson will cause you trouble after a week or three when Sagna is back, and Britton got zero goals, assists, and bonus points last season, so there's not much worth in him at all.

If you're looking for an ultra-cheap bench that plays, while keeping your XI, I'd find a 4m defender for Jenkinson, then upgrade Britton to Noble/Michu/Other 5m. (Edit: sorry, I see you already have Noble - Michu looks good to me)

Alternatively, keep your fingers crossed for the first week or two, then drop Cole for Jones, Rafael, or whatever <6m United defender has been playing, then use the saved cash to replace Britton.

Alternative #2: Downgrade Friedel since nobody knows how well Spurs will defend under AVB. Again, use cash to upgrade Britton and change Jenkinson.

Keep Clyne. When more people see him play in midfield, his price should rise and make you a nice profit.

I agree with Jenkinson, his just a short fix.
Was toying with the idea of getting De Gea but I think Lindegaard could feature, leaving my other cheap keeper playing against strong opposition possibly. Also agree with Britton he probably has to go, Michu does sound good or maybe Taarabt.

My plan is to drop Cole and Torres after week one, to bring in Rooney and a cheap defender. I also plan to bring in Naismith for the third game week who has been scoring goals in preseason.

    Any suggestions?

How does this look? Not sure about the back line...

    Vorm - Ruddy
    Fabio - Shorey - Kaboul - Shawcross - Lescott
    Pienaar - Kagawa - Michu - Hazard - McClean
    Graham - Bent - Torres

And I've 2m in the bank to swap Torres out for Rooney after GW1

    Any comments? :)

Allowed myself to be swayed by Tevez after Mancini's recent comments about him being very important. Settling on this team.

    ihez60Wz2CIFG.png

    De Gea - Federici
    Zabaleta - Clark - Hangeland - Fabio - Clyne
    Pienaar - Kagawa - Bale - Yaya - Noble
    Tevez - Torres - Graham

Leaves me with £3.0m in bank to bring in either Rooney for Torres or Aguero for Tevez at any point. Will be keeping an eye on Cazorla as well.

First thing that jumped out at me was Vorm. Personally I'd stay away from Swansea's defence, Laudrup likes his teams to play offensively and I don't think Vorm will pick up as many clean sheets as last season or even close.

I see Dempsey was not on the bench against Charlton in their last pre-season game, is he injured? He has been ever present on my team over the last 2 years. Do people believe that the arrival of Petric will mean that Dempsey will actually play in midfield? I would be interested to hear people opinion as Fulham imo have some nice fixtures starting off.

    Federici

    Yaya Walters Kagawa Allen

    Pogrebnyak Aguero Torres (c)

Subs : De Gea Simpson Puncheon Barnett

    So any comments???

Bit of overkill with two Chelsea midfielders and two City forwards.

  • Registered Users Posts: 113 ✭✭First Explorer

    Cerny Begovic
    £4.0 £4.5

Fox Barnett Kolarov Cole A Shawcross
    £4.5 £4.0 £6.0 £6.5 £5.0

Bale Cabaye Santi Cazorla Noble Etherington
    £9.5 £7.0 £9.0 £5.0 £6.5

    Aguero Torres Pogrebnyak
    £11.5 £10.0 £5.0

    Bank £2.0m

Any thoughts? not sure about Cabaye with Spurs and Chelsea his first two games and i keep getting drawn to Torres even though i got burnt by him last season, we all know on top form he is one of the best in the world but it's been a while since he's been anywhere near his best could this be his season? Sooner the weekend comes the better so I can't keep changing my team.

I think Vidic is a very expensive option for utd's defence. Think Ferdinand is guaranteed to start and can then switch for jones/rafael depending on who starts regular after. Think it will Rafael at lb. Free up some money to give yourself a better 4th midfielder.

A very expensive forward line, at the expense of midfield and goalkeeper. It's not a popular ploy -- it makes the team quite unbalanced. If you're going to go effectively with one keeper, he should probably be stronger. And having a dud City keeper means you can only have two other City players.

Ramires is a great player but a risky option. Ditto for Lampard. Maybe downgrade a striker and use the money to turn Ramires to a Spurs mid.

Bit of tinkering done with my team in the last few hours. Just looking for some thoughts. Here it is.

    Freidel Begovic

    Lescott Koscienly Clyne Cuellar Rafael

    Mata Allen Pienaar Michu Kagawa

    Tevez Torres Petric

You're a mad bastard to go with Van Persie up there :P.

He's not worth it yet imo. Way too expensive and who knows how his head is at the moment with all the transfer speculation going on. I'd take him out and use the money on upgrading some of your bench players.

Oh and change Kompany as well. He's too expensive also.

Ignore the formation. Will change that later.

I've got 4.5 million in the bank. I had Hazard in there but I'm not too certain over him. At the moment I prefer the look of Kagawa and Bale.

I am a little concerned at only having two players with DGWs in my team. I don't fancy any of the other Reading players and the Chelsea midfield is too rich in depth for me to pick a guaranteed starter.

    Opinions?

Nice team imo but i would downgrade Terry to Cole and Aguero to Tevez. I wouldn't also have 2 lads from the same team in the backs especially

Thanks for the reply, Davies isn't a City keeper but a Saints and rotates perfectly with Green for the season. I've done a little bit of thinkering with Rooney out for Torres, DGW is just too hard to ignore, and Ramires out for Bale. Maybe benching Bale till GW 2.

Very similar to my own team. You have 8 players that I have.
I think its solid. The only new signing you have gone with is Kagawa which is wise IMO. Proven players are best to go with until it is seen how new signings perform.

I'd be happy if I was going into the league with that team. Can't see anything I'd change. Every player you have is one I've considered at some stage myself, bar De Gea but that's because I go for budget 'keepers.

Finally someone replied to my post. I was getting worried :pac:.

Yea I've noticed from looking through the thread that a lot of teams are becoming more and more similar. I'm sure that'll change after a couple of weeks.

The only reason I have De Gea in there is because I wanted some United defensive cover. The better option with regard to alternating home and away fixtures would be a Stoke keeper. Unfortunately I haven't a clue who that's going to be. Sorenson retired from international football this week so that throws another spanner in the works. The last thing I want is to find one of my keepers is a benchwarmer and Jaaskelainen is my starting keeper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I'm a little confused about the Fulham defender situation also.

I have Hangeland (5m) at the moment, as he had a cracking season in 10/11 where he scored 6 and assisted 1. Then last season - no goals, no assists. Could someone more knowledgeable than me on the subject explain why?

I'm actually debating whether to upgrade Hangeland to Riise and downgrade Terry to Cole to get the extra 0.5m. Riise picked up 5 assists last season and is one of the top choices at 5.5m, but it depends on what the reason is for Hangeland's goal/assist count disappearing last season was.

  • Registered Users Posts: 215 ✭✭hupskip

Well the majority of goals scored by Hangeland were from set pieces so maybe last season the delivery from corners wasn't as good or the fact that he didn't go up for any corners.

Mayaichi could be great value now he's at Wigan, but despite Cabaye having a lack of match fitness i'd still like to hold onto him though, I reckon if last season is anything to go by he could be great this season! Means i will probaly start Noble ahead of him for GW1 but with West Ham at home to Villa that migh not be a bad thing!

Will leave me with a Mid field of:

    Pienaar---Cazorla---Hazard---Noble

Still in 2 minds about Hazard though! Might bottle it and bring in Bale for the first few weeks and see how he gets on first!

Prob the best value 6m player if he does get fit by Sat though. Can't take too many risks in week 1...
