Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We're friendly peaceful people, we're not the ones out there causing trouble, we just sit in this hazy bubble with our quarters discussing how beautiful Gail Porter is.

I think the opposite tbh, people in the north tend to take more pride in being Irish, in the language etc.

Down south we are Irish people living in Ireland, up north you have Irish and British people living in the UK.

My Brother & his wife's friends came over from Australia and went to visit their Presbyterian relatives up north. After being there a day the visitors rang my brother and his Mrs and said 'We're looking forward to going back down to the fun people'.

If you're going to get pedantic that's only a description of the state called Ireland

The Republic of Ireland is not Ireland.

As for the OP I find the opposite, I know quite a few Northern Protestant Unionists and they seem more aware of their Irish identity (which for them goes hand in hand with their British Identity) then the majority in the Republic and I can recognise and can respect their views on what it means to be Irish far more that the weird, mutated Irish identity that has developed in the Republic.

The north is half Irish and half english/scotish/confused loyalists.
The south is 75% Irish and 25% Oirish who never played GAA in their lives and watched the royal wedding.

England has the North, doesn't mean they aren't Irish though.

I was up in Armagh at a match last summer. I have to say all the people from Armagh we met there, and talked to on message boards before & after, were genuinely honest to goodness, old school friendly and welcoming, like it was all over Ireland before the Celtic Tigger
