Irish charity seeking some advise on auditing of accounts

    Greetings:

I'm new on this, and would appreciate your feedback. Myself and a couple of friends in college set up this charity in sep 2010, and our main objective was to collect used primary books from irish schools and ship them out to african schools.

Unfortunately, because the timing of the project wasn't right, we've achieved nothing todate, and were considering shutting down, for the sake of not being hit by unforeseen revenue costs.

The company is a registered charity although it has not traded and has incurred no assets or liabilities and has no bank account (this account was closed last year as it was dormant with incurring standing charges).

Accordingly, the company is required to prepare a dormant audited set of accounts to file together with an annual return.

We got the following quote from one accountant today! To be honest, we can't afford this, and were wondering is there anyone that does free auditing of accounts for charities? please kindly advise, thanks

    (exclusive of VAT):

Preparation and audit of dormant accounts
    €950
    Company secretarial requirements
    €510
Late filing penalty for submission of documents to CRO (to 31 July 2012) *
    €422
Strike off application inclusive of outlay
    €620
    ________
Total (excluding VAT) VAT at 23% will apply
    €2,502

There are a few who will do favorable rates but TBH the last two will be difficult costs to get out of.
