Women in Mines

I'm starting in the mines soon in WA would love to hear from any women that work in the mines to give me any information you can.Thanks

What kind of info?

From what I have seen they get no different facilities or treatment on site. They do get a bit more attention but they are in a fair minority on site surrounded by a lot of knuckle heads, its to be expected

I was just looking to hear from other women working in the mines to see how that are finding it, am nervous going up its a big step for me but hopefully it will all work out.

I was fairly nervous going up and it is a very steep learning curve.

I can only speak from my (limited) experience of being on an FMG site that they are fairly used to newbies coming and you won't be left totally on your own.

I am sure you will be met by someone where ever you go, be it from the mine site or from a contractor.

Pack light, I got a warning for being over the 10kg weight limit. Brought too much stuff the first time. I didn't bring a jacket, figured it would be a lot warmer than Perth. In the Pilbara in the morning it is definitely not.
