Looked at some hardware over at hardwareversand.de and came up with a few bits and pieces. This isn't my first build so I knew some things to look for but the tech has moved on way faster than I've kept up with it :P

Ram: 8GB-Kit looked good
Processor: some type of i5?
Gfx card: dont worry about that yet as I can add it later when im satisfied with everything else
Hdd: maybe just a 2TB standard, no SSD
Motherboard: clueless at the minute
Case: Some cheap case around €50
PSU:?
Cooler:?

Bit of headroom to play with. I kept an overclockable CPU as it's really easy, and there was space for an SSD.

Thanks Skylinehead, thats a pretty good build and exactly what I am looking for, interesting that the ssd came under that price range too, didnt realise that they'd come down that much in price compared to what I was looking at a year ago

Now say I want to add a graphics card to this build, say a gtx 570 or something around the €300, will the psu chosen supply enough power or will I need something that packs more punch? Does the GPU have to be Nvidia?, a 7850 or 7870 would beat the 570 performance wise and uses less power, that PSU should be fine for either though.

An overclocked 7850/7870 would murder a 570.

A good 550W PSU like that one will handle any single GPU card. For 300 look at the 7870/7950, or a GTX 670 if you can push a little more.

Doesnt have to be Nvidia at all, just the last two cards I had were nvidia and I was really happy with them. I havent followed radeons latests advances at all, only nvidia so thats why you guys advice is really good. Im just looking at comparison of cards on tomshardware now
