You, your friends and your family, are all invited to a historic night, and book launch, in the Irishman's Pub, College Street, Carlow, on Saturday the 4th of August, at 9:30 P:M.

Commencing at 9:30 P:M, the night will begin with speeches related to 1798 in Carlow, and all going well, the Croppy boy might make an appearance. A small awarding ceremony will then commence, during which copies of the new book, "Blood On The Ground: Rebellion Warfare & Unrest In Carlow," will be awarded to several important individuals.

After this, the author will be at hand to sign advanced copies of the book, which will be on sale at the venue.

What is Blood On The Ground?

During the Winter of 2009, while interviewing several interesting individuals, the author decided to take pen to paper, as a result, Blood On The Ground: Rebellion, Warfare & Unrest In Carlow was born. Initially envisioned as a booklet detailing life in early 20th Century Carlow, the project blossomed as more and more people came forth to share their own stories. By the end of 2011, the book had grown to such an extent that dozens of chapters had been added, full of folklore, facts and opinion, stretching as far back as the 1400's.

Within the book, which some local historians have claimed is possibly the most comprehensive account of the 1798 rebellion in the County of Carlow, the reader will be catapulted through several hundred years of our Counties turbulent history. From great battles fought out between powerful chieftain's and kings, to the storming of Carlow by the forces of Oliver Cromwell. You will walk the streets and Carlow during the year of 1798, and see the blood flow through the town's streets as young men sacrifice their lives to create a better Ireland.

You will witness the town of Carlow burnt to the ground, time and time again, only to rise from the ashes like the pheonix. Elections are waged within the pages of this book, where the outcome is decided by violence and intimidation, rather than tact and diplomacy, as young men hide in the back alleys of the town, endeavouring to form secret society's to right ancient wrongs. On the dawn of the 20th century, you will watch as the people of Carlow take it upon themselves to arm and fight one last fight for Ireland. As Auxiliaries and Black and Tans harass the common people.

This is the history of Carlow.

Some advanced previews copies of the book are on sale now, in the bestseller bookshop, Carlow shopping center(Superquinn) Carlow. But get them soon, as when they are all gone, you will have to wait until launch night to get another copy.

As mentioned in the above post, it is actually on sale right now in Bestseller, Carlow shopping center.

After launch night, the book will be available through numerous formats, and will sell from its own website, as both paperback and Ebook. As well as selling in numerous shops in Carlow, names to be confirmed later. It will also be hosted on Amazon, and the Barnes and Noble website.

Thanks for all the interest everyone, it is much appreciated.
