Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh right, well how did they get away with it up to now then?

Because the Gardai did not investigate the goings on of Anglo-Irish and their ilk until after the **** hit the fan.

Never mind David Drumm, where is Charlie Bird? Has he been seen since he did that documentary about being lonely and having no friends?

He did that documentary from the South Pole. Perhaps he got snowbound and is still stuck there.

I just saw a pic of him (Sean Fitz) on the RTE website being escorted by a guard to court. It appears he was wearing handcuffs but his hands where covered by a black jacket, I'm not happy!!! What ever Garda let him be pictured being brought to court with a jacket covering his handcuffs (hiding his shame) was completely wrong. There should be pictures of him and his buddies all over the net and newspapers, in handcuffs and a mugshot for each one of them on the from page of every newspaper tomorrow. That would be half the justice they deserve as far as I'm concerned!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Yes. We should let criminals go because it costs money to keep them in jail.

    Your logic is impeccable.

then the saying comes to mind,
were dammed if we do, and were dammed if we dont,

Seanie will be deadly at the 8 foot putts the next time he plays golf with Cowan if there's any justice.

    Negligence?

To the degree that the country's banking system collasped, needing bailing out and propping up from the taxpayer, and putting european banks and the eurozone into jeopardy.

Neary should be charged with gross negligence & incompetence, he may avoid being sentenced but he deserves to feel the wrath of the nation as much as Seanie or Drum or Fingleton, and his pension of €147k PA should be foregone. His pension is more than the salary of the head of the US Fed Reserve...only in Ireland.

This clown told cowen days before the bank guarantee that Anglo was grand, at least Seanie and his fellow bankers have half a brain between them, Neary on the other hand....

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0716/banks.html

Former Financial Regulator Patrick Neary is reported to have informed Mr Cowen that Anglo Irish Bank was in good health three days before the Government moved to rescue it.

Mr Neary is quoted in a report in today's Irish Independent as having told Mr Cowen in September 2008 that Anglo Irish Bank was not insolvent.

He is also reported to have said that the bank had enough assets to cover its debts.

Mr Neary made the statement at a meeting on 25 September 2008, which was three days before the Government's bank guarantee scheme.

so cowen had been misinformed by those he should have trusted to tell the truth, did neary think that things would fix themselves,
if he did tell mr cowen that things were ok, then the police should be looking for him right now.
and any assets he has stripped

It's just a drop in the ocean i'm afraid though. There'll be a few scapegoats but most of those responsible for what's gone on will get away with it.

That said I hope this guy has a lurrrrvly time in prison. Here's hoping he drops the soap.
