Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi I hope its okay to post in this section :)

I have a white iPhone 3gs 32GB that I bought around the end of 2008. The front is in good condition but the back has a few small cracks at the bottom, light scratches and a tiny chip gone out of the corner. None of this affects how it works, but im aware it could decrease the value so thats why I mention them.

It works fine except for the battery...it dies around 60% or sometimes up to 65%..I am guessing it needs replacing but I can't be bothered to get it replaced since I want to get a new phone.

Its unlocked by Apple and can be used on any network, not sure if that makes a difference to value.

Anyone know how much it would be worth in its current condition? thanks a million

For the battery problem, try doing a -full- restore of the phone back to factory settings. I had the same problem with mine and that solved it, it can help if you don't re-add the old information for some reason.

With that said, iPhones drop in value drastically when a new one is released, and the model is some 4 years old now. You'd be lucky to get €100 for it really.

The easiest way is to see what similar spec phones on adverts.ie and donedeal are advertised as.
On adverts.ie you can also see what the phone actually sold for.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sonics, I will try that but I don't know if it will fix it. I have the phone almost 4 years so its probably due a new battery by now!

Biko, thanks, had a look on there but the ones similar to mine all seem to have a good working battery so I know the value of mine should be lower due to that.

If its worth less than €100 I might just hold on to it and keep it as a backup or something!

€100 tops IMO and id sell as is now and take that before it's worth less by September/Oct
Needs new rear with bezel and camera lens, battery. You could be looking at €50-€60 to make perfect and what's to say its definitely a battery issue and not logic board.

A 16gb in good nick is worth about €150
Software support is likely to be dropped in the next month or two when the next iOS is released

It doesn't really need a new rear, the crack in tiny and doesn't affect it. I have it in a cover ever since and it hasn't made a difference. I'd assume most people buying it would be using a cover too (its too easy to drop the darn things!) the only thing it needs is a new battery. And mine is 32gb not 16gb. I read somewhere i'll be able to update it to the next ios but maybe that was wrong?

iOS 6 will prob be the last supported firmware for the 3GS. I think Cathal was pointing out that a perfect working 16gb goes for about 150. Yours isn't a perfect working one although it has the extra capacity. I'd imagine it would cost 40-50 to get someone to replace it and then ya have the added time to get it done

The 3GS didn't come out until 2009. Either you bought it then or you have a 3G.

Oops, my mistake. I bought it in late 2009, not 2008!

I was only giving you a realistic price from the phones I've sold, bought and seen sell over the last few months.

Sorry, my bad, I thought they were dropping support, just read they are still supporting but I don't think all ios6 features will be available.

No that's fine Cathal, I appreciate the help! Obviously not the news I was hoping to hear (was hoping I'd get 150-200 for it and put that towards a newer model iPhone) but I might just hang on to it as a spare if it's worth so little now!

The 3GS can barely support iOS5, would hate to see it running iOS6. TBH i wouldn't even bother selling it, Would be handy to have it as a back up if needed
