Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This argument got started by myself and my mate after a "skite" of pints. I went home and claimed thsat I'd only had "a few"!

Is there more than "a few" ?

I remember this was discussed a while back and I think "rake" was the most?

I believe once you start trying to start a fight with your own shadow, you've more than a few.

It's not even 2PM, get your arse back to the pub and drink, lightweight.

    Skip-load > rake.

While not really quantifying how many you've had, I've always liked the saying, "Jaysus he was downing pints like it was the eve of the famine!!!"

    A belly full = a heap

    a heap = a hill

    a hill = a stack

    a stack = a skinful

    a skinful = a feed

    a feed = a rake

All are perfectly acceptable for quantifying pints in my view

I think "woeful amount" comes after. Not sure though.

Any more then what you can drink and conduct yourself fairly normally is more than a few.

First they came for the socialists...

id very rarely say anything other than "a few". I was telling a friend that i only had a few on saturday night, "a few glasses of wine and about 10 or 15 pints",he couldnt understand how that was only a few.

if i was completely legless i might say "a feed of pints".

So 15 pints and a few glasses of wine didn't get you legless? Have you got 2 livers?

He never said he didn't get sick.

He could have gotten sick a few times and kept drinking.

Anyone who gets sick so they can drink more, needs a 12 step programme!

No, no. He probably got sick from so much then said "feck it" and drank more.

As for AA, waste of time. You'd be quicker to just getting alcohol poisoning :D

8 pints/cans and 5 shots would be enough for me. Not in a state to drive but still obeying the law in most ways. "A few" would be 5 or 6 imo.

Going for 1 or 2 = having around 6 pints.
A few = around the 6 pint mark also
    A feed of pints = a skip of pints = around 9+
A feed of drink = 8 to 10 pints followed by a few double vodkas and a few jager bombs
An "unbelievable amount of drink" = any extremly large combination of pints and shorts say 20 drinks+

After years of using all of the above, it was only when I done a tour of the Guinness Storehouse that I acquired two more units that I like to throw in :

A Firkin and a Kilderkin. Not that you'd drink them as in reality they're about 40 and 80 litres respectively unless you wanted your liver to float out your ear but still fun to say.

    "Where ya going?".
"I'm headin for a firkin of beer"
"OK OK no need to curse about it"

    Diethylpyrocarbonate

It's a chemical that turns into alcohol when you add water to it

The bullshít is strong in this one. Yet I suspect just two pints of coke would probably land you in A&E.
