Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Media Scrum

I’ll probably get a hiding for this – but nevertheless.....

Isn’t there something incredibly distasteful in seeing the media scrum that forms outside police stations and court buildings when important events such as the charging recently of some individuals allegedly involved in the Anglo/Maple 10 debacle.

What advantage is it to us in having 50 odd cameras pointed at the one individual?

    Exhibit A:

Should media organisations not come to some agreement and arrange one or two ‘stock’ photos on such occasions.

Its something that sits very uneasy with me and I believe worthy of consideration. The paparazzi culture is nothing to aspire to.

It's not the nicest thing in the world, I'll agree.

I did some work as a journalist before and quickly found out that a lot of them, in Ireland, won't do you any favours. They all want exclusives, are very competitive and not interested in sharing sources.

And the news papers are the worst for this as they are not adapting to modern media. They still expect other media forms to hold off until they get their chance to publish it in a newspaper, ironically, in the interest of "fairness".

    People want to see photos.
    Papers want to print photos.
    Photographers want to take photos.

    IT'S THE CIRCLE OF LIFE!!!!
