I don't know Digs. The baby in head down and has been since the start really. Last scan confirmed this and doctor said the same thing today....hopefully the baby stays like that now!! Asked my doctor about the leg cramps and he said that drinking the fortified milk can help them or taking some calcium.

I can't really complain though. It's not happening all the time and am sleeping better now than last week. I've also avoided the dreaded heartburn so far.

Ah you have a well behaved baba! My LO is still feet down, she was like that at the 20 week scan too. Far too laid back, like her father! Plenty of time for her to do the right thing and flip though :)

Ha ha my mam keeps saying the exact same thing about it being well behaved...hope they're the same on the outside :-) I wonder has all the dog walking helped this.

Plenty of time for your little bundle to turn yet. My mam was telling me that I was breach up until the last minute and then turned myself when the OB was talking about having to turn me.

Haha Nead the doc must have put the frighteners on you!!

I am actually pretty relaxed about her position. I read a book by Tracy Donegan called Irish Better birth book (it's well worth a read for a FTM, gives a good insight into Irish maternity hospitals). She said that for all people go mad trying to turn some breech babies that sometimes they literally cannot turn i.e the cord is around them etc etc so it is best to leave them be. While I seriously would hate the thought of a C section, if it gets her here safe so be it, I don't think I'd be doing everything to turn her. That said some babies are just lazy and stubborn and knowing my luck she is one of them :p

As you say plenty of time yet anyway, she will prob leave me hanging until the last minute haha she seems to enjoy tap dancing on my bladder :D

Went to see the specialist for ultrasound and everything's good thank god :) the placenta is in the correct position now and isn't low lying as my doc had warned me.
Even got to see the baby's face, he looked like he had such strong features! And daddy's plump lips!
Did have a bit of embarrassing moment when I puked all down my front during the ultrasound! I suddenly felt very nauseous from looking backwards at the screen and from the doc pressing on my tummy while scanning the baby.
Not my finest moment! Even though hubby got a good laugh out of it...:o

Also got my anti d injection yesterday. Feeling less stressed now! Only thing I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying for is that my hubby can come to Ireland with me.

Leg cramps anyone? I had mild ones up until two nights ago and then they set in really bad. I had them last for 5 mins and couldnt move at all. Did ok though didnt wake Hubby up I'm sure that keeps him happy. Besides that and pelvic pain alls good and started buying baby stuff cant wait to have all done and be ready for hospital. Hubby's Ante is getting married around my due date so I'll be travelling down the country 3 and half hours and bringing my hospital things with me just to be safe. I'm sure I'll last half of the day before heading off somewhere for a sleep!!!

I've been getting bad leg cramps lately too. I hadn't really had them up to recently. Bananas which have potassium and sparkling water which has magnesium are supposed to be good for cramping muscles.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,773 ✭✭✭Synyster Shadow

yea my granny keeps telling me soda water as she always uses it so think I may be going to the shop tomorrow for some and I've loads of bananas in the house too

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,339 ✭✭✭How Strange

Oh and stretching your calves before bedtime. Stand up facing a wall. Put half your foot against the wall so your heel is still on the floor. Press into the wall with your hands (like you're trying to push it away from you) and you should feel a gentle stretch up your calve.

Ladies hope ye are all well?

In the middle of renovations and slowly losing the will to live. I have no kitchen, it's being plastered at the moment and the old one was ripped out last night, three of our bedrooms have no curtain/blind or floor as waiting on the plaster to dry. There is a thick film of dust on everything in the house not to mention junk.... Everywhere! The cat and the dog are covered and I mean covered in plaster. Dog thinks this is great and he is delighted with life. Kitty is having a nervous breakdown so is holed up on the bed with me, in the dark so peeping toms can't see in the window :D

Why on earth we didn't do this when I was 21 weeks not 31 weeks is beyond me. Scratch that before I got pregnant!!

Will all be worth it in the end I know that. Just need patience at the moment. Talk about first world problems??! ;)

The morning sickness I said goodbye to at 24 weeks returned on Monday, joyful! I realise this has turned into a complete moan, sorry. I am sucking it up...promise! My husband is actually a bit freaked out at how calm I am, think he's worried I am internally imploding :D:D feels good to type it all out... Therapeutic :D

I feel your pain. We just got some work done too and the dust and dirt nearly drove me spare.

As for morning sickness, I never had any the whole way through this pregnancy but now, at 36 weeks, I seem to feel queasy alot of the time. I think its from my stomach being so high and having heartburn but god, it's horrible. I have given up having dinners in the eve now. Cornflakes and toast is loads (and a sneaky bar of chocolate!)

YH I was just saying on the moan thread I can't believe you're almost there, although I'm sure you feel every day of your 36 weeks! You are a month or so a head of me so I always use you as a marker :P I found a massive difference from 28weeks on discomfort wise, are you really uncomfortable now? Obviously the nausea is making you feel bleuch, I'd say everything is well squished, not much room for food!

Heartburn is literally the pits. Lying down seems to make it worse too, there's no escaping it!

Sitting and lying is quite uncomfortable now. This is our first baby so every day is a new experience. I am beginning to a get a tad nervous now (although I'm excited too). Time just flew by....I can't believe in less than 6 weeks we should have a baby

Hi girls, haven't checked in in a while, but just caught up on the last 4 pages of chat. Count me in for the heartburn and the leg cramps. I find the liquid Gaviscon great for the heartburn, it was disgusting to drink at first, but I soon got over that once I realised it was giving me 4+ hours free from the horrible heartburn. I've had 2 really bad leg cramps in bed at night, woke up screaming, scared the OH bigtime! My god they are awful. I'm really careful now to stretch my legs *without pointing my toes* like the physio said.

Had the GTT test this week, awful experience, but I don't seem to have it tg.

On Monday I'll be 30 weeks! Seems to have flown in one way, but in another way feels like I've been pregnant for years!

yea thats a lot of laps alright,I would be interested to hear what they have to say to you about that,i've had just the one about 4 months before this pregnancy, consultant asked about it at the start of the pregnancy but it hasn't been mentioned since.I am really hoping for a vaginal delivery too,I had one with my daughter and it went really well so fingers crossed. The recovery is definitly quicker and less painful I would say judging on the recovery from the lap anyway!

Hi MM, I was meaning to write this after my last consultant appt. Consultant said i should have no issues with a Vaginal delivery and that the laps and endo should have no effect on it, i was delighted to hear that as i really want a VD.

Digs-I moved house when I was 21-22 weeks pregnant and I'v done as much painting and that as I could last month but now I have SPD and I can do no more so either mi'm gonna have to do it myself when bub arrives. I'd rather it all be done. I just remember how much cleaning I was doing as I was decorating and its just so easy to get overwhelmed with it all. I'v often gotten into the car and left the house for the day for my own sanity

Aww you have my full sympathies :( I've had SPD since about 20 weeks and its almost unbearable now. I feel so helpless not being able to do any of the decorating but it's just not possible. My husband roared at me for picking up the paintbrush yesterday. He was right though. I am v lucky to have brilliant family who are helping out with all the work so can't complain, it's just the control freak in me wanting to get stuck in but I am giving orders from the couch. We bought our house two years ago so should have had it all done by now, nothing like a baby to kick in the nesting and panic ;)

I'm like you though would just rather have it all done. We are at the stage in pregnancy we need to put the feet up in comfortable surroundings! Mind yourself and don't overdo it.... Easier said than done but SPD makes you suffer big time if you don't.

Oh yea I put in a hellish weekend because I cleaned (should say blitzed) the whole house saturday and sunday and last night I couldnt walk. Got to the point I had a cry and a cuddle. I wont let hubby near a paintbrush otherwise it would be done (let him fix cars and computers but not decore) I'll get him to work on his dad me thinks. Its very easy to put off renovations I lived in an old house and we tried do as much as we could but it was daunting and I gave up once the main rooms were done

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭Nead21

I think my husband is nesting. We're putting a new floor in the baby's room this week, and now he's talking about painting all the rooms to "freshen things up"!

Anybody getting Braxton hicks? 30weeks today and im feeling VERY pregnant now. Bump has been sore all weekend and a bit this morning. Feels like it's going into spasm on and off...is that what Braxton hicks feels like?

  • Registered Users Posts: 502 ✭✭✭holding

In awe of you girls redecorating. We are renters, and were thinking of moving house before the birth (more space etc), but as I get bigger, I think we will be waiting until after the birth! I just seem to get more and more tired each day, I can't imaging packing everything up and moving right now.

Nead I think that is what BH are like - things are supposed to 'tighten' up and then relax again. But I don't think I've had them so couldn't say for sure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,773 ✭✭✭Synyster Shadow

I had most my old house packed bout a month or more before moved to this house, the problem am having now is unpacking..!

I spent all night awake with bad pains across top of my tummy and my ribs and back. Was really gonna go hospital at one point

Holding do stay put for now, no point in putting the stress of it on you unless really necessary! I am beginning to see the light, can almost breath without inhaling a lump of plaster now!

Nead I was just thinking about BH over the weekend, don't think I have had any, or none that I can distinguish anyway. Like Holding said they're supposed to be a non painful tightening of the belly isn't it?

Synster definitely call on the father in law, that's what they're there for :P be sure to put the feet up!

Hi girls, just checking in,I see a lot of you have been busy with decorating and getting ready for baby-the weeks are flying,I had an eventful few days and got a taste of whats to come.I haven't been well for over a week with bad chesty cough.I was trying to treat it at home with the usual home remedies-honey and that, then on friday I started having pains, thought they were braxton hicks and plus I was doing a lot of coughing also,Fast forward to saturday and pains were almost constant, rang hospital and they admitted me,turns out they were not real contractions but a uti which an ultrasound revealed was caused by a small blockage to my right kidney-little rascal has turned to breech with her head squashing my right kidney which may be the cause.I had to stay saturday and sunday night, was on iv for fluids and antibiotic.
Had scan on baby yesterday, she is doing great apart from being breech, tech told me she was 3lbs 10oz with expected delivery weight of 6 and half to 7 lbs.My little one was 7ibs 1 oz at 9 days over due so looks like this little one is a similar size, she did comment on the fact that she is not a big baby and just on the graph!!!
So now I will be seeing doc every week and doing all I can to move this baby into position:)If at all girls you don't feel that anything is totally normal at all be on the safe side and get it checked.I have a habit of just truding along and hoping things go away but with baby on board that's just not the best thing to do.Glad I listened to my gut now:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

Oh yikes MM!!! Sorry to hear that, sounds scary! Glad you got yourself to the hospital in the end though and are on the mend. It's easy to ignore these things but you are right, not possible at this stage in the game.

Breech here too, although my lady has been since very early on, hoping she is just lazy and will flip in the next few weeks! I went swimming on Sunday but didnt feel anything noticable to indicate she'd moved down, it was lovely relief for the SPD though so could recommend it. Am telling myself not to worry unduly until my 35week apt but no harm in trying out some of the exercises to give her a hand! Hope you have some luck moving your baba and that she just need some gentle encouragement!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭Nead21

God MM you poor thing. You must have gotten a fright when you were admitted! Glad to hear you're back out now though. Im the same yay just ignoring something till it goes away.

Braxton Hicks seem to have stopped now and not as sore today. Think i just over
did stuff at the weekend. Started to think more about putting my hospital bag together so i went into pennys to see about pjs/nightdresses. I had to leave after about 5mins as i got so overwhelmed ....i think it's the fact that things are starting to feel very close now!!!

Holding i agree you should definitely stay put. If i remember correctly we have the same due date and all the money in the world couldnt motivate me to move house right now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 502 ✭✭✭holding

OK girls, I hear you, I think I will cease the house hunt until after the birth so! I know it's a mad idea. I just would like everything sorted beforehand, you know? Mad mothering instincts!

Meggysmom you poor thing, omg! Glad you got seen to, and that they are going to keep an eye on you from here on in.

Nead, I would get your pjs/ night dress in a maternity shop like Jo Jo Maman Bebe, or Mothercare. I was wearing regular big pjs and tried a night dress from a maternity shop recently - omg SO much more comfortable, and looks better too. They are reduced to half price in Mother care at the moment FYI.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭Nead21

Thanks Holding will definitely look there at the weekend...dont want to end up buying a tent like nightdress just cause it fits ha.

morning ladies, I have 8 weeks to go from today but I'm a week ahead so hoping 7 weeks to go.
Got a letter saying I'v to attend a meeting for people on jobseekers more than 3 months on monday. Thing is this is only week 2 on it I'm not 3 months on it at all I was on a course for 4 months so its not like I'v not been trying. If I dont get a job or take whatever work they can give me I'll have no money and Im suffering SPD I can hardly walk that and blood pressure how am I gonna do what they want. Such a start to the week stress or what. At moment hubby is doing an internship through social and jobsbridge. Our money each week isn't huge to say the least and no business is going to take a pregnant woman on at this stage when I could be gone to hospital in a matter of weeks to 8 weeks. Why cant life be easy and run smoothly, I did the course up until I couldnt do it (work placement on my feet all day in a hospital making beds and so on...) I know loads on jobseekers years that live beside me and none of them got the letter I just got

  • Registered Users Posts: 300 ✭✭meggysmom

Hi SS,could your husband claim you on his claim for a few weeks until baby is born? The idea of being on job seekers is you are available to work,(not lecturing at all)I got one of those letter after being on job seekers a month,i was sick and couldn't go to meeting and i just rang and told them, turns out the following week i signed off as OH got a well paying full time job so was able to support us as a family.I know if you are on job seekers you are exempt from signing on the month you are to give birth and the 2 months following birth, but after that they will look to see that you are fit and available to work.Have you let them know you are pregnant?as far as I know you have to let them know at least a month before due date!Others may have more info on this than me,but as far as I know this is the way it works!!pm me if you want!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,773 ✭✭✭Synyster Shadow

does anyone get a cllicking noise from there belly? I't like a knuckle cracking really quietly but can still be heard. I thought I was going mad but others have heard it too and just look at my tummy its weird and usually happens when belly feels tight

Synester, that's a real pain. I don't know where I stand either. I'm a contract worker, whose contract finishes in a couple of weeks. I'll probably have another contract to start next June. In the meantime, I guess I could claim, but not jobseekers, because of the baby? Also, I think my husband (we are only recently married - 2 weeks!) earns enough that I wouldn't be eligible. I'm new to being married, pregnant, and claiming, so not sure of the whole deal. I thought I would pay a visit to a social welfare office when this contract is up, and see what the story is. I'm guessing it will be 'no, go away'! :)
