The earphones on my iphone 4S do work properly. When I insert the earphones into the socket I need to press the earphones against the side of the socket to get it to work. It’s very irritating and damages the earphones.

Firstly can this be fixed and secondly where is the best place to go in Dublin City Centre to try and get it fixed?

Is there any fluff stuck in it. I'd send it back to apple while it's still in warranty

No definitely not. How long does the warranty last? I've had the phone since November

    Warranty is 1 year

Ive a related problem that just started today - my iphone thinks my earphones are still plugged in. they aren't!!
google tells me to insert/remove the earphones 7 times to fix it. i tried 7 times and 20 times - nothing.
i also tried to "blow fluff out" - but nothing. any other suggestions......id hate to bring it to a repair shop if its something stupid.

    (i also tried a reboot)

There's no certified iPhone repair centre in Ireland

Their website begs to differ, Apple authorized service provider sez it on the homepage.

The lcd on my 3gs has stopped working, I think I must have dropped it or it got banged or something, anyway I opened it up hoping to repair it myself but it looks like 3-4 of the pins that connect to connector 1 are broken.

I think this is very specialised work, does anyone know anywhere in Dublin city center that does repairs like this and any idea about cost?
    Thanks

That is a mother to fix, I had a similar issue and I had to resolder a new connector into the board, between sourcing the part and the amount of time it took to repair I wouldn't do that for less than €150. You would actually be better off getting a new motherboard and putting it in yourself. You could be lucky and do a spot solder repair, but truthfully none of the repair shops in Dublin would be capable of that.

Word of warning to anyone that used stores in town to do the repair, they all just send it off to Chinese repair stores, who do brutal jobs of repairing it. A girl brought me an iPhone 4s that had recently been repaired from a Chinese store, she had a minor fall and the glue had come lose from the cheap part they used. When I opened it up there were parts missing all over the phone, several screws were gone and parts were put back in no particular order. These guys try to do the job as fast as possible and they don't care how the phone is put back together as long as it works. I repair them as a hobby and as a result I take my time and do it really slow making sure not to break anything and that everything goes back properly.

i dont know the requirements for your repair NellyBelly but Moore Street is the place for 'chinese' phone repair shops.

ive used one shop there 3 different times now (iphone4 home button, power button and iphone 3g screen replacement)

the shop i used was less than €25 for each of the above jobs and he did it whilst i watched (30 mins max on these repairs)

he was very skilled in the art of taking it apart and putting it back together IMO (but obviously my repairs sound a bit more straight forward than what kjl describes)
