Thanks Tony, in your honest opinion is there a chance this could drag on for weeks/months the way these things always seem to do or will they be back on the 25th as promised? Im signed up for an email alert on your site anyway.

I'd be reasonably confident that the date will stick as the 150's shipped last Thursday from ferguson.

    Hi Tony

Do you stock the Ferguson wifi usb adaptors?
Dont see them listed on your site.

I'm sorry I cannot answer that because forum rules do not allow commercial interaction.

    got a new 250 today

one thing i find with this and the 120 is the widecreen formats tend to render a lot of programs very badly . leaving it on auto seems best but would prefer a widscreen setting for recordings

How do you mean? the aspect ratio looks wrong when just watching normal tv on a widescreen tv? Does anyone else experience this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 MickserB

just make sure your settings are correct in your TV also, on my 250 I have my settings on 1080p and also on Auto, on some chans if the picture is 4.3 it shows it as 4.3, the majority are OK, even on auto, the box isnt changing the as pic to fill the screen,

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,033 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

i changed the tv settings . the various 16.9 settings end up in un either picture being 2 small and not filling the screen or over zoomed.

its something that could be improved on

I don't think this is an issue with the box so not sure what can be improved.

its an issue that the video aspect settings on the box are not ideal. iv changed from a humax foxsat which had no problem with these same channels on the same setup 1080i 50 which i have it on now

Well we have sold 100's of these and no one has said they have experienced this issue . BTW 1080i is not the aspect ratio its the resolution so you might try looking for the setting that says 4:3, 16:9 letterbox etc

its the 16:9 letterbox, panscan and combined that are the problem yes . and the rendering it gives to a lot of the satellite channels is not ideal imo

Hi guys, new to the forum here :)

I found you will searching for some more info about this receiver. If all it's characteristics are as mentioned in the e-shops i found it think we are talking about one of the best value for money receivers!

I'm Greek national living currently in Poland and i want satellite tv in order to get Hotbird -13 signal and watch my Greek channels (how this is going to happen i think violates forum's rules ;)) . I am also noob regarding the satellite world :)

Do you think this is a worthy piece of equipment to do my job? i was recommended a clone for DM 800 SE but i would like to control the budget if possible and i find this receiver in a very competitive price in Poland (330zl --> ~ 80€ shipped)

My need is HD signal (i guess it supports), lan capability (checked - it does) and easy set up options. I need your feedback as owners having this equipment in your daily routine

Sorry discussion of "special purposes" using a lan is not allowed here. It will support HD

sorry i can edit post if it breaks rules even like that.. Thanks for fast reply :D

Overall would it be recommended for the usage i plan to do with it?? i guess its typical usage and not smth extreme or smth it cannot handle right??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,351 ✭✭✭✭Tony

It should handle Greek Tv like Nova etc no problem using either the card reader or the CI slot. As I'm in the satellite business myself maybe get a few more opinions from others here before you buy.

Tony, I have been using the Openbox S9 PVr (Very unreliable timer recordings) but now would like to get a similar combi box for saorview and freesat preferably with a hard drive included, I have a dish at the moment and that is all. What would you recommend??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,351 ✭✭✭✭Tony

I'm sorry I cannot answer that as commercial interaction is not allowed here. In any case its off topic for this thread so I'd suggest you start a new thread with your question and that way you will get many opinions from the knowledgeable guys here.

Hi Guys, Im new to the forum but just have a quick question,

I got an Ariva 150 combo recently and finished connecting it the other day. The channels had been preset, so when I connected all the cables and turned it on all the channels appeared. The only problem was that I left the cables a little long at the back of the box so I took them apart to cut a little off them. When I reconnect everything all I am getting is a (no signal) display moving across the screen. I have checked and double checked all the cables but dont seem to be getting anywhere.
Is it a problem with my cabling and connectors, or could this be a problem with the box

If it worked before you changed the connector then its most likely not a problem with the box.

Pretty obviously your cabling or connectors. Remember next time "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

The 250 does not record in MPEG format. It records in TS which is a raw transport stream with a H264 video recording and an mpeg audio track.

You can convert it to an HQ MP4 or Flash FLV with free converter format factory for youtube etc.

the format of the video recording file i have recorded are MPEG-PS ie mpeg without subtitles and text

the 120 used to record in ts format
