Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Group A GBR/SEN/UAE/URU
    Group B MEX/KOR/GAB/SUI
    Group C BRA/EGY/BLR/NZL
    Group D ESP/JPN/HON/MAR

First round of games Thursday 26th, all can be seen on the BBC/red button or on SKY platform.

    Honduras–Morocco (Glasgow, 12.00)
    Mexico–Korea Republic (Newcastle, 14.30)
    Spain–Japan (Glasgow, 14.45)
    United Arab Emirates–Uruguay (Manchester, 17.00)
    Gabon–Switzerland (Newcastle, 17.15)
    Belarus–New Zealand (Coventry, 19.45)

Spain v Japan looks like the pick with Brazil v Egypt a close second.

Gutted to be missing most of these - I'm visiting the University of Leicester.

Will be watching the Brazil vs. Egypt match. Partially because I think they are class, and partially because I will be betting big on them.

    Brazil. ;)

If Egypt are class, I'll cry!

Having dead air before and during half time is a bit surreal. Just lingering stadium shots like somthing bad or a streaker is on and they wont show it.

EDIT, woops that was meant for the ladies thread, but it will probably apply to the mens.

Jonathan Wilson actually reckons the Egyptians could be pretty good.

Finally, a tournament without Germany. I didn't even know, they didn't play :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,379 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

The Koreans have a pretty good side for the tournament. I'm looking forward to watching them, Kim Bo-Kyung and Koo Ja-Cheol in particular.

Isn't one of the guys playing with HSV?

Heung-Min asked the manager not to pick him because he wants to focus on HSV this year. He could nail down a starting place with a good pre-season, which he would have missed if he went to the Olympics.

Disappointing for them but I'm not complaining :)

Why aren't all these games on in London? Doubt many of these games will bring in more than 10,000 people.. Really don't see the point of having the final at Wembley either, even if it is GB vs Brazil/Spain, surely 50,000 is about the best they can hope for.

    Thanks mike65.
Was looking for the times for these.

I think it was simply a question of inclusiveness, certainly the stadia chosen are all too big and they must have known that beforehand - Cardiff City FC stadium should have been used for example.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭Rekop dog

    Some teams already named

    Brazil side:

Neto; Rafael, T Silva, Juan, Marcelo; Sandro Rômulo Oscar; Hulk, Neymar, Damião

Must be nice to be able to call on Pato Ganso Lucas ect if needed.

Uruguay starting without Lodeiro. Not sure if it's tactical or injury.

That's how HSV is sometimes called in Germany, by those, who dislike the club. But I didn't want to offend Oatesy23 by mentioning it ;)

    Penalty Honduras. 2-1 up now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,191 ✭✭✭BKC

2-2 now. Another nice goal from Morocco.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Been a very good match and that chip was sweet.

Red card for Morocco. Just kicked the Honduran player.

Have you checked the red button?

Just as I refreshed I figured I'd check the red button on BBC2 and there it was. I assumed it would have been on BBC1.

1-0 to Japan against Spain. Spain very poor for the goal there.

Brazil u-17s could probably win this tournament if Spain keep this up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭Bob the Seducer

    Spain's Martinez sent off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

Red card was a little harsh IMO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Spain down to 10, Inigo Martinez sent off as he was the last man back.

He was the last man, no doubt it was a red IMO

Morocco Honduras game was actually really good earlier. Thought Morocco were pretty unlucky not to win, Kharja was pretty impressive. Mexico Korea is very poor in comparison, South Korea offering more but lacking that bit of guile in the last 3rd, Mexico abject.

Amazing scenes over in the Spanish game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Spain = box office. Hampden Park must be 85% full. The red seemed rather harsh but Spain could easily have been 2-0 down by now anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

    Good save from De Gea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Nagai should have done better there

Unbelievably poor defending there from Spain, should've been a goal for Japan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭titan18

This Japanese side aren't bad. Be interesting to see if they can keep it going for the full match.

Amazing how comfortable they are on the ball compared to some full national teams.

Those two chances missed by Japan, has to be an equaliser coming soon.

Japan should be 4 up by now

Spain are shocking. Mata is vastly
    Overrated
