Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spain are shocking. Mata is vastly
    Overrated

    No he's really not.

Thiago's injury was a huge loss to that Spanish side.

Very funny watching Spain's back 4 trying to defend

The Japanese number 11 looks a good player, what club is he with?

They are down to 10 men and desperate for a goal, of course they are going to get caught on the counter.

The Japanese, great bunch of lads.

    Deserved win for the Japanese.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,379 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Not even the strongest team possible that the Japanese sent, with the J-League on right now they left some of those players with their teams.

Anyone watch Korea? Wondering how Kim Bo-Kyung played since I missed it.

Uruguay UAE on BBC now. Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees a slight similarity between Edinson Cavani and Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights?

Suarez getting booed at every touch. Good few United fans went along to Old Trafford I guess!

    This UAE team aren't bad.

Great tackle earlier and bad reaction from Coates.

    Come on Gabon goalie!

Great goal for the UAE! Thought he had messed it up. That through ball was fantastic!

What a goal, world class through ball and a cool finish

Uruguay could've done with having Suarez on the line there.

This is a team that has come through the youth ranks together. They've been playing together for a long while. It shows too! They are playing some brilliant football. No hoofball from them.

Not only you, they are deadly

They could do with putting an extra body in the box when they get forward. Think they are worrying about a quick counter attack from Uruguay if they lose the ball.

This UAE team look fairly serious.....so where actually are these players from??

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

Some of the flicks, tricks, through balls and one - two passes they're playing is unreal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

I like the fact that the referee is not blowing up for every little thing.

American commentators say that they all play domestic football, no mention of 'foreign nationals" a la Qatar. Very impressive stuff. They'd destroy Ireland in a match!

The UAE has plenty of solid footballers, no need for foreigners like Qatar.
Not only do they tend to remain in the UAE to play football, but the % of 1 club men in the UAE is probably much higher than other countries.

If football manager is anything to go by, most of them are paid handsomely at home so there is no need for them to leave. Not on the same level as the foreign players like Baiano & Gyan, but still decent money!
