Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Congratulations to the Welsh fans according to the BBC they didnt boo the English anthem, shame about the Uruguayan anthem :S

Is it only the English anthem at a football match or does it continue to be the English anthem when say, a gold is won in the cycling or an English woman and a Scot row to a gold medal together? :o On this stage its Great Britain.

Classic bit of goal poaching from a Chelsea star. Took a chance, got himself into the box.
Him and Torres to rip it up next season :p

Hazard's agent is worth £6Million. Surely he'll have a few goals in him too.

Care to back up that random comment from Fergie with actual proof?

    Thought not! :p

Oh and Utd are going to be ok, they really are

They've been underwhelming the entire tournament. I actually went to watch the first game they played against the UAE, and although they won they really were atrocious. Its not just that they were unfit, many of them looked completely unbothered by the fact that they were in the tournament. When that attitude begins to creep into the olympics (here and in the tennis ive seen it) it really puts a dampener on the whole thing.

Cavani was simply awful, just so poor and completely uninterested.

They'd have been better off bringing Forlán than Cavani.

Ridiculous yellow from Suarez. Plain stupid trying to catch it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,707 ✭✭✭CR 7

Suarez up to his old tricks.

Like playing on a cabbage patch. Woeful pitch.

Sturridge is such a wasteful greedy player!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Cavani decides to care about 2 and a half games too late.

Where do you get that from? He lost the ball because he just didnt play a simple pass and dwelled on it too long thats all

That's his signature move. He never seems to do anything else.

Pass? I don't think he knows what that word means.

I'm not just talking about that one incident. He never lifts his head or does the simple things and he tries to go himself more often than not even if there is a much better option available!

Edit: I think my sarcasm detecter is asleep!

See Jonathan Pearce on the BBC still thinks GB can go to another Olympics for football its as if they dont know its a once off from FIFA

he does need to improve thats for sure, (and he is still young) but the flip side is his ability to do the unexpected and score goals

greedy is the term i have trouble with, I wish Torres had been more greedy and had the confidence to shoot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,416 ✭✭✭Jimmy Iovine

Would have been a screamer there. What a shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

that was some shot. Undeserved goal if it came though.

Subs after the normal 90 should be banned. This is a pointless substitution.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,416 ✭✭✭Jimmy Iovine

**** that Jonathan Pearse lad is annoying. Bigging up Butland's save at the end there to be the greatest of all time. It was practically straight at him. If he didn't catch I'd be disappointed.

Quarters are on saturday augest and are

    Japan-Egypt, Manchester, 12.00
    Mexico-Senegal, London, 14.30
    Brazil-Honduras, Newcastle, 17.00
    Great Britain-Korea Republic, Cardiff, 19.30

I think the winners of the gb match face the winners of the brazil game so theres a fair chance gb v brazil in the semi where presumaby their tournament ends but still a bronze looks on for gb I reckon, thought they'd be gone at this stage but then again I thought spain and uraguay would walk their groups. Football eh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Thought GB played some great stuff tonight. None of that puke football we see from England or Scotland. Defended well too. Ramsey and Sinclair showed their class and Bellamy was a live wire throughout. Cavani was v disappointing for Uruguay, he didn't seem to want to be there. At least Suarez put in the effort.

I came on here, saw your post, checked on my Paddy Power tab and the match was suspended, so I went over to the Olympics thread in After Hours and told them it was 2-1 to South Korea... :o

Same age and their birthdays are only 9 days apart.. They must have come from the same chicken factory.

At least Walcott could grace the running track at the Olympics.

Caulker has looked great so far.

GB already missed a peno in this game? Bad omen!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Pearce: "Now remember, we're TEAM GB, not England."

Can the Welsh players take 2 pens?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Question, do keepers get away without critisim?

There the last South Korean lad took an 8 yard run up which left only really able to put the ball right or straight and butland goes right but no one will hear anything about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Also saw that sturridge miss coming really poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Sturridge, why did you check your run? That's illegal anyway and should have been retaken.
