    Government agencies cannot share their data with each unless there are specific provisions in the Data Protection Act. The moment they start doing that, Big Brother is only around the corner, a very slippery slope.

    I've said it many times my grandparents are minted! Yes they worked all their lives etc but they do not need medical cards (both have vhi), or free travel (they drive), fuel/phone allowance, they can afford to give some. The thing I object to is that they will be asked to give some to pay back the banks.

    Josef Von Higgins preaching revolution from his pad in Germany, yet by his own admission HE pays €100 Property Tax there every three months on top of bin/water and other taxes to his local (German) Council.

    The grant has been skewed for years. If you're the son or daughter of a self-employed person then you don't usually get the grant(because self-employed people are all rich as we all know), but if you're the son or daughter of a farmer, you instantly got the grant(because farmers are all poor).

    who has two euros a week to spare in these harsh times?

    wait till the budget comes.

    Germans get about 400 euro a month social welfare

    people do pay small fines like that, even in brown coins. its not the clerk in the office who gave you the fine but they have to count it.
