    That reminds me of a great stand up routine (to be honest, it wasn't funny per se, but more like good social commentary) from Chris Rock where talks about a certain minority looking for credit for something they're supposed to do, like feeding their kids etc. I can't link it from here, will try to do so from home.

    As you said, society expects you to behave in a responsible manner, you shouldn't be looking for kudos for doing so.
