    Presumably your studies were subsidised handsomely by the State? If you were living in the good ol USA, you'd probably still have a huge debt hanging over your head from college fees.

    Its mad that the councils can ramp up commercial rates to cover up their own inability to manage a budget.

    Every sympathy for this lady.

    If there's one cut I would love to see implemented, it would be to cut the number of local authorities in the country down to 7 or 8.

    How we're expecting struggling businesses to continue supporting the myriad number of City, County and Town Councils with crippling rates and ancillary charges (parking, water, etc.) and threats from these Councils of Court proceedings, etc. is beyond me.

    Rates are a joke. Councils don't provide any free services to business premises anymore. You have to pay for bin collectio & water now
