I find their ongoing (nightly) scheduling of salacious tales of murder deeply disturbing. Prime telly every evening normally consisting of one of the following:

Larry Murphy Murders
Ireland's Missing Women
The Soham Murders
Ireland's Raped Women
Irish Women - Victims of Violent Crime

You get my drift. How nobody has been picked up on the questionable subject matter of nightly "entertainment" shows in the guise of topical news is genuinely beyond me....

There is no question that TV3 has decided that mixing the most noxious elements of the Herald and the Orish Mail is a sure fire way of carving out a solid niche in the market, trumped up trash for people that find even RTE2 too highfalutin.

Sad when you consider that when the competition for the independent TV licence was launched we were promised a station that would deliver home produced and quality programming - what a fukking joke that turned out to be.

TV3 produces programming virtually for free - all its documentaries involve free access or assistance from some organisation that is happy to get free publicity , examples include Dublin Airport or the ISPCA . Another lot of free input comes from the internet such as the ' expose ' of the sex industry.
The rest is cheap foreign imports thus earning it the title ' UTV light '

I hate the channel , hate its presenters and being a judgemental bastard have a low opinion of those who watch it.

AFAIK its licence is not open-ended and will be subject to renewal - theres hope yet.
