I need a replacement after my Xperia Mini went tits up.

Will the following handset work globally? It's quite important as I'll be spending a year traveling in Asia.

And if anyone has any thoughts about the phone I'd be an interested listener.

    Many thanks.:)

    Define "work" and "Asia".

    Short answer: probably, yes.

    Long answer:

    First the tech specs:
    http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_milestone_2-3495.php

For 2G, it will work in most countries in the world, as it supports all four used frequencies (850, 900, 1800, 1900).

For 3G, it will work in countries that support 2100 Mhz, which in Asia should be most of them. Korea and Japan are an exception, you will *have* to use 3G (they have no 2G). Some countries use frequencies other than 2100 for 3G, the problem is that there are apparently two version of this phone, one with US-centric and another with EU-centric frequencies.

What countries are you planning to go to? Do you expect to have 3G speeds?

Thanks a lot for your response.

I'll be traveling in China, Thailand and Vietnam and maybe other Asian countries.

As long as 2G is supported I don't really mind, as I use WIFI for Internet.

Basically, I don't want to splash out 220 quid only to see the dreaded 'wrong sim' upon insertion. It's happened before.

On a different note -- what do you think of the phone in general?
