    Hi everyone.

I will be spending my vacation in southern Spain in August. I decided to make inquiries here because I need 3 white porcelain fillings. I knew it would be more expensive here so I decided to google search dentists in my holiday location. After making email inquiries and phone calls, it turns out there is a MASSIVE difference in prices between Ireland and Spain.

I received a competitive quote of €60 in Spain. This contrasts with the €100 quote I got in Galway. Okay, Irish Dentists claim that they spent significant money to become a Dentist. The truth is that most of their education fees were paid by our government.

I am satisfied that all the work is insured and guaranteed, and almost feel excited... I will be staying for 2 weeks and this rewards me in case of any complications, so this gives me a two week holiday.

My advice to people considering the same is to go for it! Try and arrange it with your holiday schedule. This would be the better option. To avoid the high prices here, you need to plan carefully and google search.

This thread is different given the last two paragraphs and different title. It is a Dental Issue which people consider when thinking about Dental treatment in Spain.

Does your insurance and guarantee include flights and accomodation to Spain if there's an issue later?

What makes you think an Irish Dentist's quality is superior in Ireland?

Same qualification, same experience, an EU standard in Spain.

How often does a dental issue occur?

Did I say that? Show me where I said that.

But you evade the question asked.

I dont have an issue with general dental prices, fillings ,checkups etc in this country its the specialist stuff thats a rip off here.
Root canals, implants ,crowns, veneers etc ,crazy crazy money.

Dental checkups are free in most European countries, unlike in Ireland. At least that's what I've found during my search. Emergency treatments are difficult to predict but the best substitute is vigilance and careful planning. For example, when on vacation in Europe, consider a free dental checkup - most dentists offer them. You also have the advantage of being in the location where it's cheaper. The EU is an open market and encourages competition between countries.

Done to death, and for 40 euro it's not really an issue, most things are cheaper in Spain. The best dentists are expensive in any country, and never a good idea to get complex multiple step treatments away from home. Locking this up. Oh btw spending a few days of my precious holidays having dental work is stupid just to save a few quid you would waste that portion of expensive holiday time....the mind boggles.
