It asking you to use the square function as part of the formula for cubing x. So since the square function is the equivalent of x*x you substitute it into the formula x*x*x so it becomes square(x)*x.

If you're not familiar with the concept of calling functions and using the returned value it would be worth your time reading up on it since it is a fundamental concept of programming.
