Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It would appear that subtlety and tact aren't qualities familiar with the OP.

R.I.P. to Maeve Binchy and condolences to her family and many readers of her work.

I could read her books forever, my favourite being the classic, Circle of Friends. I was only beginning to read Firefly Summer.. Actually in shock.

The sad loss of a great, great author... Rest in peace and condolences to her family and friends.

It's now on the RTE News website.
The writer Maeve Binchy has died following a short illness, aged 72.

Ms Binchy sold more than 40 million books worldwide. Some of her work was also adapted for screen including the 1995 film Circle of Friends.

A journalist, short story writer and best-selling novelist, Maeve Binchy was born in Dalkey in Co Dublin and studied at UCD.

She initially worked as a teacher before becoming a journalist, columnist and later women's editor at the Irish Times.

She then moved to London where she became London Editor.
Her early short story collections were based in London and Dublin and featured sharp, funny and often poignant observations of residents of those cities.

Very saddened to hear that, enjoyed some of her books, some not so much, but she was always so elegant in her stories and personality. A real loss to the literally world, but she has left a huge legacy. RIP Meave, thanks for the stories x

    RIP.

One of Ireland's most successful and well known writers over the last 30 years.

OP, I think you could change the wording of your title to be a little bit more subtle and respectful.

I can't. It's not really disrespectful anyway. It is what it is.

    You should be able to.

It's not disrespectful, just blunt, cold and unsympathetic in my opinion.
