Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    1. When you see 'last post by Sharpshooter' on a thread you started it probably means it has been (justifiably) locked.

    2. Don't type any posts with more than ten words in them as no one reads them.

    3. Never start threads at 3am.

    4. People who write in list format are invariably idiots.

Can anyone think of any more?

If you're thinking about starting a thread, don't.

You're just not funny enough and the witty smart arse replies will leave you feeling even worse about your life.

Also, never be the first person to post on a thread. You're definitely not funny enough for that.

Leave that to the big boys

Innuendo and sexual gratification is rife here !! not to mention the sneaky flirting, and mod dodging shenanigans ..

And that's all before we even get to the sarcasm ..

Really? Had to laugh last night. She was obviously on a power trip and locked the Maeve Binchy thread for no reason (well the official line being that there was a thread in Condolence forum). Thank God one of the male Mods with a bit of common sense deleted her post and reopened the thread.

Ah is probably not the best place for advice on personal matters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

    436. No matter what the thread is about, someone will always blame foreigners, the government, people on the dole, or the mods.

    689. Josef Fritzel usually gets a mention somewhere in every thread.

Second post is generally the "Thanks Whore" post

It's a great way to get a wide (ridiculous) range of opinions on current affairs.

Also, if you're too lazy to read all the newspapers/watch the news, it's pretty handy to find out what's going on in the world. It's probably wrong though. :D

    Create a poo thread

Even if it is a poo thread, you legally have to Godwin it within 5 pages.

And everyone from outside Dublin will get offended, everyone from Dublin will get defensive and the thread will then turn into a 'Jackeens v Culchies' argument

I think this is a bad idea. This place is one of the dumbest corners of the internet. I wonder why I bother reading it. Sometimes it reminds me that I'm not as stupid as I think I am, like the recent gambling system thread.

Britain/UK/British Isles, or Ireland/Island of Ireland threads are allows good for a laugh.

when a controversial thread title appears, read the first page, then the last one straight after, its a good measure of how much of a trainwreck the topic descends into.
