I wonder if anyone could give me an answer to this one. We have a very old small derelict cottage behind our house and it is a bit of an eyesore. I was thinking of doing some renovation work on it, ie building up parts of the walls and putting a roof on it. Can I just carry out the repairs myself or do I need to get…

If you are not changing any part of the original design you can work away. You should also make sure that the building is not a listed building, you may need permission then.
